I just installed this today. Everything looks good and works well on my 2012 jk. The bolts are metric 8.8. That's equivalent to grade 5. The hitch fit on the crossmember easily with about an 1/8" gap. When tightened down the gap went away. The powder coat looks good.

INSTALL TIPS
I was able to install the hitch without removing anything by duck tapeing the washer and nut on. You need to tape 2 opposite sides of the nut and washer. I also taped the nut and washer separate. The bolt is 19mm (you'll need an open ended wrench this size or 3/4") and the nut is 18mm (you'll want a socket for that). I put a bar over my ratchet to get the bolt torqued down real good. I would wear safety goggles and bring a small pillow to rest your head on.

The wire harness is easy to install. You only need to unscrew the 2 innermost screws on the driver break light (the outside 2 just hold the light cover on). Then just wiggle it a bit and it will pop off. Put the screws back in a few turns right after removal so you dont lose them. You unplug the wire harness for the driver break light by pressing the middle "button" on the harness and wiggle. The trailer harness goes in that spot. The wire easily runs through a hole in the bottom of that cavity. I ran the wire over the top of the frame rail and behind the body bolt. I would add a couple 14" zip ties to back up the push plugs. The push plugs attach to the wire loom with just a couple wraps of electrical tape.

The whole install should take about an hour and is rather easy. Anyone can do this.

A couple notes:
* This product fits my 2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited even though the website indicates it's not a match.
* I did not have to remove the rear bumper.
* Start to finish installation was ~20 minutes.

This hitch was very easy to install. Based on the other reviews I was prepared to remove the rear bumper for installation, but there is no need to do this. There is enough room to reach your fingers between the bumper and the rear of the hitch to hold the nuts in place and insert the bolts from front to rear. Once you have the bolts started, use a 3/4" wrench and a socket to tighten down. The reason I am giving this product 4 out of 5 stars is a noticeable manufacturing defect. There was a 1/4" difference in the gap on either side of the bracket. It was noticeable by naked eye causing me to measure it and should have been caught by a quality check. I was concerned it wasn't going to slide into place easily - but it did. As a couple of the other reviews mentioned, I too suggest using black zip ties to secure the wiring harness beneath the Jeep.

This hitch is great. The instructions were clear and easy to follow along, and instructions are included for both the hitch and wiring harness. I had it installed in about 30 minutes. The construction of the hitch seems solid, although the welding isn't the best or cleanest I've seen. The wiring harness fits perfectly, and even has tabs that mount to factory holes in the frame to keep everything clean-looking and out of the way. I love the wiring harness tab on the hitch, which keeps the harness close and keeps it from dangling below the truck (and is one of the reason I selected this hitch over others). Overall I think this is a great product.

The item was unusable when received. The item is welded steel. One of the welds is too large and bulges, preventing proper fit on the Jeep frame. Returning. Amazon is unable to replace due to lack of any in stock, so I will be purchasing a different brand than Rugged Ridge. This defect should have been obvious to a welder and corrected.

For those wondering about installation. This or any hitch is simple to install on the Jeep Wrangler. The bumper must be removed to access the back edge of the frame, but this is very simple as well. Six easy to access bolts hold the light, plastic bumper on. Two in each wheel well, and two in back of the bumper near center. Once the bumper is removed, simply slide the hitch around the frame, lining up the four bolt holes (this is what I was unable to do due to the large weld). Secure each of the four bolts, replace the bumper. The bumper is very light and can easily be installed by one person. Unscrew the rear driver tail light with a Philips screwdriver. Pull out the taillight and unplug. Plug the existing tail light cable into the new cable, and the new cable into the tail light. Run the cable down from the light well to under the Jeep, using the mounting holes on the Jeep and pegs in the cable to secure. Clip the cable end onto the hitch. Complete. Very simple, can be done in half an hour.

I opened the package, had it installed, and drove away in 35 minutes - including the lighting harness.

BUY THIS ONE WITH THE WIRING HARNESS!!!!

Great looking hitch, except for the welds that don't "look pretty". They're nice and thick, but I'm never going to get under my Jeep to look at the welds.

You absolutely have to remove the rear bumper - trust me, it's easier to remove the rear bumper than it is to change a flat tire. I took out a total of 6 bolts. There were two bolts on the ends of the bumper underneath that were easy to get to. There were another 2 bolts on "L" brackets that I removed. I left the "l" brackets bolted to the frame, and I only removed the two top bolts attached to the bumper.

Hitch went on faster than I can get dressed....

I then took the two phillips screws on the driver side light housing (screws on the right side of the lamp) and removed the tail light. I shoved the supplied wiring harness through a "fabric/plastic" panel, and made the connections. The plugs are female and male, and as long as you have a basic sense of sexuality, they are easy to install. The harness even has those "push clips" that push into holes on your frame that hold the harness nice and tight out of the way - and the clips were postioned perfectly.

The hitch looks great!
