My wife and I are planning on a year-long bike trip. After a lot of research, I decided to try out this case to protect our expensive DSLR camera.
To put is simply, this case is amazing. If you have any doubt about it's toughness, just look up HPRC on YouTube and you'll find videos of people dragging them behind cars, throwing them over waterfalls and even parking their car on top of it. Each time they are able to pull out their electronic equipment afterwards and use it like nothing happened.
If you are considering one of these cases, remember that they only work if you have a little bit of foam space around your equipment. For us, that meant getting a xx50 model (the 50 means it's taller), in our case, the 2250 was large enough that I could store my camera body with one lens attached and a 2nd lens. I have photos of my configuration at this URL: [...] - I only allowed for one row of cube foam between the two pockets which was a mistake. If I were to do it again I would have a minimum of two rows, preferably three.
The only thing that would make this case better would be an easy way to attach a shoulder strap. We discovered 2 small holes in the reinforcing next to the latches. I'm going to try to figure out a way to attach a couple of D-rings or something so we can carry the case over our shoulder when we are walking around. There are also holes in the corners of the lid, but those are for locking it shut with a padlock. A nice feature, but I don't think it would work so well for adding a shoulder strap.
