I suffer from an unfortunate propensity to accumulate lots of wax in my ears every few months. I have used several products to clean my ears but all previous ones left a lot to be desired. One even punctured my ear drum :-(. After that episode, I had been going to my family doctor to have it cleaned. But it costs money and more importantly a lot of time.

I bought this product after careful review of several others. I was surprised that it was so inexpensive while still including ear plugs, a good and safe syringe, a container to hold water, and the wax remover liquid. It was also available with free shipping via Prime membership.

I followed the instructions and left the drops in my ear for a few minutes and then I rinsed my ears. Within two or three times of flushing out my ear, it was clean and I could hear again :-)

The syringe is well made and works as described. Because the water comes out from the sides, there is no danger to the ear drum. I was not sure how far into the ear canal to push the ear plugs and I just pushed them in a bit, but they worked fine and held the liquid inside.

I am relieved that I can now clean my ears when I want without having to visit my doc and paying the co pay and what not.

I was dealing with nasty external ear infection caused by impacted wax which became waterlogged after two separate doctors tried to remove it. By my second appointment, the combination of pain and vertigo caused me to break out in a cold sweat and eventually get knocked out cold for a few moments. (For the record, I have a pretty high threshold of pain, but my ear canals are hyper sensitive for some reason.) The after effects of this were about 4-5 days of what I can only classify as excruciating pain and laying on heating pads.

Needless to say I have tried EVERY OTC remedy and absolutely dreaded going back to the doctor. I tried pouring hydrogen peroxide and the softening drops in my ear, but the build-up was so sense that nothing could penetrate the "wall."

The Debrox and other systems have a small bulb style syringe which doesn't cut it for deep impacted wax. It's pretty worthless for the tough cases. I also picked up a more true syringe style with a 3-directional sprayer (very similar to this one) which got comparable "stars" on Amazon, but the volume of water sprayed by it just wasn't enough.

Oddly enough, the syringe on this one looks and feels somewhat cheap, and takes longer than one would hope to fill up since the accordion style design sucks up water pretty slowly. That's where the downside of the kit ends. The 3-directional sprayer prevents water from painfully striking the eardrum (eliminating the risk of perforation), and the VOLUME of water which it sprays is perfect and enough to flush out disgusting chunks of grossness from your ear.

I was at my wits end until I found this kit, and slowly yet surely, over the course of 3-4 days, the progress has been awesome.

Because of my noisy upstairs neighbors I've been sleeping with earplugs, which have had the unfortunate side-effect of causing earwax to become compacted against my eardrum, resulting in impaired hearing and an uncomfortable feeling of fullness of my ear canal. I had this same problem many years before, and, after unsuccessfully trying an OTC remedy, I had to see a doctor, who flushed my ear repeatedly with a big metal syringe full of cold (!!!) water to finally loosen the cerumen. I didn't want to go through that ordeal again, so I decided to try Macks. At first I was dismayed because, after I inserted the drops, let them sit for a while, and then flushed my ear with the syringe, the liquid refused to come back out, so my ear felt acutely swampy, and I could barely hear out of it. In desperation, I tried pouring rubbing alcohol into my ear to try to evaporate the water, but that just added to the swampiness (and it stung a bit). The next day, my ear was still resolutely moisture-filled, so I figured I might as well have another go at it--and it worked. After allowing the drops to sit in my ear for about 15 minutes, I hosed it down repeatedly with the syringe and was amazed to feel the built-up material exiting my ear canal, at last. So the moral is, be patient. You may not experience instant relief, but eventually the stuff will soften your earwax enough that you can flush it out. One tip: make sure that the water you flush with is warm (slightly above body temperature is good). Shooting cold water into your ear can actually cause you to faint. Also, you'll need to jam the syringe into your ear as far as it will go, and don't let up on the spray until you've injected the full load.

In my experience, the ear plugs that come with the kit don't really hold in the drops very well, as I jammed them in as far as I could, to the point of pain, but the drops still leaked out freely when I attempted to stand up.

I purchased this product because I have a propensity for ear wax buildup. I noticed a month or so ago that the hearing in my left ear was diminished. When I went to the doctor for a routine visit, I had him look in my ears. He confirmed a wad of wax was blocking the canal on the left, and upon trying to remove it with a curet, he ended up pushing it in a little farther where it lodged. At that point, he gave me the option of having it lavaged out by him or doing it myself. I chose to do it myself and ordered this little kit from Amazon.

I received the kit promptly after ordering and that afternoon I lavaged my ear, following directions in the kit. It took about 5-6 tries, with little bits of wax coming out only after the 2nd lavaging, before a piece nearly the size of a pencil eraser washed out. I repeated the lavaging a few more times to make sure there was nothing remaining and then dried my ear. I could hear again! Yeah!

Worked well and was easy. I would recommend this product and suggest that anyone using it be sure to use water that is not so warm it will hurt your canal or ear drum but as warm as you can stand it to soften that wax. Also, be persistent. Good luck.
