This item would have received a 5 star review if i hadn't had to fix it to make it work properly. Shipment was very fast, and it was triple boxed with styrafoam in the inside box so it wouldn't get damaged during shipment. Upon unpacking it fit and finish seemed good though all the stickers were half peeled off it. I fabricated a steel bracket to mount it to the wall with, once I made all my air connections i pressure tested it and as soon as 10 psi hit it i could hear the hiss. I found it was coming from the swivel assembly, upon taking it apart I found that the O-ring on one side was missing. After finding a matching O-ring locally i reassembled it and it seems to be flawless now.

Bought this unit for occasional use in my home garage. Looked at about a dozen other air hose reels on line. Selected this one because it appeared to be built well.

On the plus side; the wall bracket is strong, the ratchet mechanism works well, good spring return tension, there's plenty of room for the hose to wind back up onto the reel, nice paint job.

Slight minuses; The 3' leader hose was not long enough to connect to my air tank (a 6' hose worked better). The hose leaves a yellowish residue on your hands (maybe cleaning it once will take care of this).

The unit is heavy; make sure to mount it securely. I'm pleased with it so far. Good unit for a fraction of the price of the professional air hose reels where I work.

I bought three of these. They looked and felt pretty good initially, but within a few months the hose on all three developed a lot of cracks (looks like dry rot) and the retraction failed entirely on one unit.

I purchased four Goodyear units in the past and they were far superior, with no hose issues or retraction issues at all in 6 months. Spend the extra money!

This hose reel is very solid and has a STRONG recoiling action. I use mine in an industrial setting with daily use and so far it has preformed flawlessly.
Would have expected to pay alot more to get this kind of quality. Highly recommend.

I'm really happy with this reel. The build quality is more than adequate for the casual user/homeowner. There are only 2 that bothered me.

1. The mounting holes are very difficult to get to. Not a big deal until you have to hold this thing over your head trying to get a bolt in it.
2. As other reviewers stated, there is a yellow residue that comes off on you hands when you handle the hose. You can simply wipe this off with a soap/water soaked rag. Again, not a big deal.

I would definitely buy this again.

When I started looking for a good retractable hose reel I was a little surprised by the prices I was seeing. I was not looking for anything heavy duty but the cheaper reels I looked at didn't seem to be of much quality at all.
After a lot of searching I felt that this one from Pentagon Tools seemed to be the best value for my money.After receiving it and using it now for a few weeks I still think that is true.
If someone is looking for the quality of a $200 or $300 reel I think they will be a little disappointed, but let's face it this you are not paying $300 for it.
I think for a unit mounted in someones garage at home doing mostly light duty work this unit is great. If you were to plan on using it a lot every day it might not stand up as long as you would want it to.
The unit is pretty skimpy as far as instructions go but really, if you know how to hook up an air hose to it you will know how to operate it.
This unit is also heavy enough so that you will certainly want to plan on mounting in a good sturdy location.
