Horrible design/materials

Works great unless you ever have to go over a bump. The front wheel sticks out but I don't even think it's made out of metal, I think it's a "strong" plastic. We were walking home today and my old girl Taffy was in the stroller and we went to run across the road for our walk sign and there was a little bump to get back on the sidewalk (NOT the curb mind you, it was a smooth 1-1.5" bump) and the front wheel crumpled half throwing my dog out the stroller except she had the safety strap on so she got clotheslined. Thank goodness we were only a mile from home, I pushed the stroller home wheeley style and Taffy's arthritis is killing her now.

Unsafe Dog Bike Trailer

Second trip today with the trailer and while going around a shallow corner the trailer flipped over. I applied my brakes as soon as it happened, but even though my dog was tethered in the trailer she was thrown out. The trailer canvas shredded in multiple spots.

Bottom line, the center of gravity is too high on these, the safety features are minimal and ineffective, and the trailer is dangerous. I am lucky that I wasn't going fast otherwise my dog would have been seriously injured. Don't buy the Novel Dog Bike Trailer from DoggyRide. Keep your dog safe.

Related, the company's response to me was simply "As dogs/stability cannot be controlled inside, we do recommend slowing to 5 mph or less around corners & on uneven surfaces." I was going fairly slow and wasn't taking a full corner. Not much compassion and not a great customer service response. :(

My pups love it!!

We purchased this dog stroller so we could take our pups with us on shopping trips, rather than leaving them home or in the RV. It took a couple treks for the dogs to get used to the idea, but now we can unzip the front flap and let them stick their heads out and enjoy the ride. We've never been stopped from taking the dogs into stores. Haven't attempted a venture into a grocery store, but have gone into Super-Walmart without being stopped (I slip in through the garden area).

The assembly is a little on the difficult side, but completely do-able. The hardest part was attaching the brackets which hold the handlebar. The fabric is stretched so tightly on the frame that it is very difficult to get the bracket to go under the fabric. A lot of tries and a phonecall to the DoggyRide customer service finally got the task accomplished. The edge of the handlebar bracket goes under the fabric, but the fabric is pushed aside by the bolts. The instructions that come with the stroller are sorely lacking in detail, but you can eventually figure it out. It is not clear that putting the side wheels on is accomplished by pressing the concealed button in the center of the wheel hub -- this allows the wheels to slip right on and off in a snap. The stroller collapses down to about 6 inches with the wheels and handlebar off. It takes about 5 minutes to set it up for pup transport. It's a little tough the first few times you open it up due to the tightness of the fabric. Put the wheels on first, then stand on the hinge side of the crossbar and push the far side of the stroller away from you while you lift the crossbar into place. Actually, since we drive a van, I have found it easier to just leave the 'cabin' portion opened up and put the three wheels and handlebar inside the cabin for transport.Read more ›

Superb dog wagon

This is a well designed, well constructed cruise ship for dogs. Materials are of excellent quality, the linkage cleverly manages communication between the bike and the carriage, very rugged (excellent off-road) and the whole thing deconstructs quickly and easily for transport/storage. My aging hound recently had a dislocated hip. Rehab was a snap, we just rode our usual routes with the carriage and off-loaded the dog for stretches along the way. He seems to love it and it is great exercise for the person doing the peddling (try hauling an extra 100 lbs up a steep grade). I'd recommend the DoggyRide Novel to anyone looking to do right by their best friend.
