I purchased this to dye a synthetic wig with.
The ink is very pigmented.

It is a very liquidity consistency, if you were not aware. One thing I think that could GREATLY improve this product is including a dropper in the lid, it would make it much easier to use for various reasons and much more versatile.

The red is not as deep as I thought it would be. It is a VERY bright, almost more "neon" red than "fire engine" colored.

I would buy this brand again however.

This is my favorite black ink of all time. While not intended for technical pen use (it's rather thick), it works great with brushes and dip pens. Leaves a glossy, raised mark on the surface of the paper but still waterproof for painting over once dry.

I write with dip pens of various types (fine to medium, flex and not flex) and this ink is pretty solid for black. It is a bit too thick for most nibs so you'll need to add maybe a dozen drops of water to a bottle and a few more as the water evaporates, but the black is very dark matte black, and the lines have very little feathering. The acrylic medium in think ink sticks to the surface of the nib well, and I can write the most number of words with this ink with a single dip (lowest inking frequency). With a medium oval point nib like Esterbrook 788 or 805 I can write one line or more, with a fine nib like Nikko Japanese writing pen, I can write four or more lines, on a letter size pad. I also like Daler Rowney for color acrylic inks. I just tried Liquitex with disappointing results. This review doesn't apply to people who use different instruments than pens. All these brands are pretty solidly waterproof once dried. They all dissolve in alcohol.

One negative of Speedball inks. The bottles have a cap with lousy liner that breaks and comes off within first few uses, and then the ink will leak out of the cap when you shake to mix settled pigments. You want to transfer the ink to a smaller container with decent caps/liner for dip pen use. Most of the inkwells are made for dye inks that don't need to be shaken before use. I use small glass vials, which works perfectly.

Speedball ink is the best. It doesn't smear at all-- water, acetone, isopropyl alchohol, nothing makes it run, bleed, or fade. Make sure you shake well-- these inks settle fast, it's part of the reason why they are as permanent as they are. I think a lot of inexperienced people don't shake/mix them well enough before using.

Im not professional in inking though i can say a few words... i do very fine detail designs so i always go with ink that does not feather out on your canvas/paper (used on both and it look good) and appears opaque. this seems to fit both. the color is also pretty sweet and these guys make black and white if you need to lighten or darken.
