My dog figured it out right away. She used to run in paddocks to chase horses and did a bit of traveling. After one or two breaks through the fence, she stays clear of the paddocks even when horses are running. Shipped as ordered.

I got this model because it offered more than one setting. The battery is big and she probably didn't need it. The lighter version might have been a better fit.
