Not just for kids!

I got two of these, and I love them. My apartment doesn't have air conditioning, so I was leaving all the windows and interior doors open all summer and fall. The problem was that sometimes a big gust of wind would slam one of the doors shut, which startles anyone who's home and worse, can leave my cat locked out of the room with his litter box! I put one of these on the door to my bedroom and the other on the bathroom door, just over the latch, so he always has access to food and water, too. That way, the door can be 99% of the way closed for privacy, but the cat can still get in and out. When I want to close the door, I just pop it off and hang it on the doorknob. If I want the door propped wide open, I can stick it between the door and the jam on the hinge side. Easiest doorstop I've ever dealt with, and the clear plastic is nice and unobtrusive.

Love!

All I can say is, these are awesome to have in the house with a 1 year old who thinks he needs to "slam" all doors to close them. When he began doing the door slamming, all I could think of was his fingers accidentally getting slammed by the door. No one told me that kids do this; hey it's my first kid! So when searching for a safety contraption, this was the first thing I got and I am so glad that I did. I've tried them in all different positions and they all work just fine. The door "bounces" away from closing about a foot, so ensure that it won't close AT ALL. You just need to remember to put them on.

So hopeful, but this messed up our door!

After a trip to the ER following a pinched finger in our bathroom door, I was looking for something to make sure it would never happen again. After looking at lots of options, these seemed simple and effective.

I was excited these arrived, and tried them on the non-hinge side of the door. I was immediately disappointed, as fingers could still get pinched on the hinge side of the door.

I put the pinch preventer on the hinge side and was satisfied that the door would now stay open (I attached as shown in the picture). My kids didn't even touch the door, I pulled on it slightly to see what would happen if a child tried to pull the door shut. I then removed the pinch protector and the door was off of alignment. It stripped the door so the screws will not tighten all the way. My husband was able to fix the door thanks to a helpful hardware store employee. We are now trying the pinch preventer on the hinge side so it is "hugging" the door, and hoping for the best. The hinges are OK so far.

Does the trick but be prepared to repaint your doors!

Don't use this on hinge side

This product works on the side knob of door, but never use it on hinge side.

If you use this product on hinge side, it may work as a lever and it can break the hinge. That's what exactly happened to me.

Great grippy little guard that keeps its shape

I've had a pair of these for about 2 months and they're very nice. The material is grippy and flexible, not styrofoam. The grippiness does take some paint off, but I think it depends on the kind of paint. I just place it above eye level and in the same place every time to avoid obvious patches of missing paint. I also recommend the door monkey if you're looking for something to stop pinced fingers and keep doors closed.

Perfect pinch preventer!

We got these to prevent pinches (duh) and to keep my son from slamming doors all the time. I love that these can work on the hinge side or the knob side of the door - and we use them both ways. I haven't had any issues with them removing the finish on the doors or frames, but I don't have painted doors (they are stain/varnish). They also prevent him from closing himself in a room and not being able to get out. They also hang over the door knobs when they aren't being used so they are right there when you need them. My husband wasn't very good at remembering to use them when we first got them, but after about a week that's not a problem any more.

So simple and work great!

I got these not knowing anything about baby proofing products and they have worked out just great. The door I use them on is rather thick and so I just put it on the door just above the middle hinge, hugging the door like a C. This prevents the door from being closed on any fingers, and even keeps the door from being closed enough to pinch fingers on the hinge side either. Great for my 2 year old twins who love to try and slam the door on one another! And when not in use, it just hangs on the doorknob so it's always easy to find. Highly recommend.
