Bought unit for gas fireplace in bedroom, and it worked great every night except one: One night I got up about 3:00-am, the room was freezing and I knew I had set the temperature to turn on the fireplace, so I'm going like "what's up?". Looked all over for the remote, under the bed, in the sheets, all over the room... finally found it under the sleeping cat who was snoozing on the bed on top of the remote! The cat looked at me as I plucked away the remote she was all curled up around which read 89F (cat's body temperature is usually around 100 to 103F.)

Unit works just fine, but don't let your cat sleep with it...apparently, the thermostat is in the remote.

Also nice for mood setting when you don't want to leave the sheets...assuming your fireplace is in the bedroom. Cat could care less about this feature.

We had issues with our fireplace remote for about a year and kept fiddling with it, replacing batteries, etc. Finally we had enough and I googled the part number. I was pleased to find this at Amazon and prime to boot.

It was an EXACT replacement of both the transmitter and receiver. I followed the instructions and had no problem replacing the receiver. All the connections are quick connecting spades and are insulated. No tools needed. Just disconnect the old receiver and connect the new one -- wire for wire. Hard to go wrong. The whole project, including reading the directions, took 30 minutes. It's been working flawlessly for the past six months.

I would have given this a 5 except for the cost. Just seems very expensive for what it is. I did shop around and couldn't find much better, so I guess that's the deal.

HeatnGlo remote was about $100 more. I read the review for the Skytech that said it would replace the HeatnGlo remote before I bought it. Got it and hooked up only two wires to the fireplace control and hit the "on" button. Poof, the flames came on immediately. A click of the "off" button, and the flames went off. Why pay $100 more for a HeatnGlo remote when the Skytech works just as well?

The Skytech remote for our fireplace insert stopped working. Cold weather made fixing it a priority. Installing this replacement receiver / remote was easy. The ends pre-crimped on to the two ends of the wiring were not the same as what was installed on our insert, but it was easy to strip and crimp the correct ends in place. It's great being able to turn on the fireplace with a touch of one button!

The Skytech Smart Batt II/III remote worked fine, and was no problem installing. The problem is that the temperature differential was really 4 degrees. It would turn on the stove at 2 degrees below the set point, and not turn off the stove until it was 2 degrees above the set point. (The remote was in Fahrenheit mode). That was too much of a temperature swing for us. So I returned this model and ordered the Skytech 3301 model instead. This has an adjustable differential. Hopefully it will work better for us.

When the power outlet for our fireplace suddenly went out, we called an electrician who was unable to fix the problem. Then, our dog chewed the remote. We were desperate for a solution to fix both problems and this was it -- a battery powered remote. It was simple to install and works like a charm. The cost was far less than another electrician visit, an electrical work around or a new wired remote. I can't sing its praises enough.
