When it works it is lightning fast. The problem is that in the middle of file transfers it loses connection and then seems to recover shortly after and your hear the
da-dong" and windows pops up that your usb device is ready to use. The is not a problem with usb 3 port on laptop as when only one usb 3 device is being used I am not experiencing this problem.

Not many on the market yet and would look at others or wait for more tested hubs.

It's usb 3.0, so it's blazing fast, when it works.
Unfortunately, it frequently has problems connecting, and your sitting there hearing the connection and disconnection beeps repetitively until you remove and reinsert the usb3.0 plug and hope that this time it works. Which it usually doesn't
As I sit here, it's truly driving me crazy. It simply doesn't work with any reliability at this point, less then 1 month after purchase.

Learn from my mistake, and steer far away from the USB hub

I've had this about 3 weeks and used it several times to power my external LED 17" monitor. Most of the time it works, but not always, and this without any other devices attached. And sometimes I've had the screen flicker like it wasn't getting enough power. On investigation I found that the AC adapter only provides 2.0 amps. So I'm returning it as defective since it has failed intermittently and replacing it with a Tripp-Lite which provides up to 4 amps.

I thought the main differences between hubs was the number of ports and whether or not they need to be plugged in to an external power source. But I've learned that some have over voltage protection and some don't (not sure about the Syba 7 port), and some provide way more power. The Syba can only provide 2 amps, that's not enough to drive four power hungry usb devices, let alone 7.

I was accumulating a lot of USB devices and ran out of ports on my laptop, not to mention every time I wanted to move my laptop off my desk and use it elsewhere I had to unplug everything. I have another very cheap USB hub, but it would not really work with more than one thing plugged in. It seemed overwhelmed. This new one arrived and I put it to work using 5 of the 7 ports. At first it seemed to freak out trying to install a bunch of device software, but after that it worked very smoothly. All the devices had enough power to run and the hub itself transfers data at a high enough rate as to not really slow down or ignore any of the devices. It even has an on/off switch. I definitely recommend it to anyone.

So far it gives the correct transfer rates according to USB 3.0 certified rates for every 3.0 drive. I am giving it 2 stars only because I found out that when I was trying to transfer some files (around 17GB) between a Sandisk USB 3.0 extreme pen drive & a WD 2TB USB 3.0 My Passport drive the transfer halted many times. Twice I got the error that the pen drive could not be found. It seemed like intermittent disconnection. When I removed the WD drive from the bay & connected to the rear port of the motherboard the transfer went smoothly. Even with both the drives connected to the rear USB 3.0 ports there was no problem. This indicates that there is some defect in the Syba drive bay & I am disappointed Syba is shipping such models without proper testing. So far I feel like I wasted my money on this because it failed to deliver what I wanted: to use the front ports & avoid the need of connecting the drives to the rear ports.

Logo shows HIGH SPEED. It is NOT high speed.

I added this to a Dell D9150, which had a non-oem 5 port back hub that allowed for internal hookup of the USB cable. The non-oem hub is a high-speed 2.0 card, and has always worked well.

I wanted access to USB ports (more than the 2 on the front panel) for connecting digital cameras, HD handycams, iPhone and high-speed USB disks (16GB Kingston HDSD).

I added the drive to an empty bay under the 13-in-1 Micro Card reader. Simple install, using a floppy power cable.

This device has yet to run at High-Speed 2.0. Every device I have connected to it enacts a windows message "This device can run at a higher speed if you connect it to a High-Speed 2.0 port..."

Whether it's pluged into the main OEM ports on the front bezel, the back of the 2.0 card or it's internal port, the same message appears.

Upon opening the device, the infrastructure and chipset are noted as 2.0 only, no high speed certification logo on board.

1 star...you get what you pay for. I don't recommend this panel for anyone needing high speed support of devices.

[Updated info]

The card operates, as a pass fail system. and my review states I opened the device and investigated the circuitry...After researching the chipset, the onboard chip set shows it's architecture is not hi-speed upsteam. If others are having success with this product as a high speed port device in both downstream and upstream modes, then they have a different chipset, and as a purchaser I was not given the opportunity to select the chip set that was shipped to me.

Due to the cost of the item and it's private seller status, it's not economical to return the device.Read more ›
