Sporty Style for Winter Wear

The Brixen is a practical and stylish choice for cold-weather wear. It has a sleek and contemporary design with tonal stitching on its neutral-tone upper and a low-profile silhouette. This shoe slips on easily and stays in place as you trek through hillsides or make your way down icy streets. And even if your travels won't take you across the tundra, you'll appreciate the sporty good looks of this versatile shoe.

Insulation and Thermal Heat Shield

To keep feet cozy, the Brixen boasts soft wool-felt lining and Keen.Warm--lightweight, effective 200-gram insulation made with bamboo charcoal. Inside the lining, the shoe offers a thermal foil barrier to prevent cold from getting in and keep heat from escaping, so you can keep going longer.

Waterproof Upper and Keen.Dry for Moisture Control

Even when rain or snow threatens to slow you down, the Brixen provides exceptional moisture control. Its waterproof nubuck-leather upper keeps water out, so feet stay dry, and a Keen.Dry waterproof membrane provides additional protection against moisture without sacrificing breathability.

Dual-Climate Outsole with Ice Traction

For protection against the hazards of cold terrain, the Brixen has a dual-climate outsole that hardens when temperatures drop to provide additional traction on slippery ice and packed snow, helping to prevent slips and falls.

TPU Shank and Shellback Heel Support

For continued support mile after mile, the Brixen combines a compression-molded EVA midsole with a built-in stability shank made of durable TPU. This shank helps stabilize your foot as you move, reducing fatigue, so you can go further, see more, and feel better when you get there.

For an additional spring in your step, the Brixen includes shellback heel support to cushion and support the heel on impact.

Patented Toe Protection

Because rocky objects and debris can trip you up on the trail, the Brixen includes Keen.Protect, patented toe protection that wraps up and over the outsole for thorough coverage of the entire toe bed.

Keen: A Story of Hybrid Innovation

Keen began in 2003 with an inspired sandal design that combined comfort and toe protection. This radical design departure for sandals spawned the overriding Keen philosophy of hybrid innovation--striving to create new possibilities and to discover and implement original ideas.

Keen products put an emphasis on the joys of play. At the same time, Keen believes in the value of working hard to give back to the community. To that end, the company has partnered with non-profit organizations around the world to help get youth into the outdoors, protect land for its environmental and recreational value, and to give bikes to kids in need.

My boyfriend is in HVAC. Every year I buy him a new pair of Keens, slip on work shoe... For a shoe to last a year with the way he treats them, wearing 5 days a week for a whole year is amazing. We used to buy cheap because they were just a working shoe, something from wal mart but they fell apart in like 2 months... They also caused him back pain...

    Worth the money for these

UPDATE: It is January 2015 and we just bought another pair... That's probably 6 pairs of these... He really likes these shoes. They're durable, comfortable enough, waterproof and slip resistant. Sometimes they're not available and we have to buy merrell or Columbia. They're ok but these are the best. I wish he would buy two at a time to avoid that risk, lol.

These are good shoes. I bought them after spending six plus years in Merrill Jungle Mocs, so I've had a slight transition. The Brixen's have been discontinued on Keen's website and I could not find them in a retail store. But they are solid and well built shoes. I went the Walking Store and bought orthotics to customize the fit. Several reviewers on Amazon mentioned that they run a little small so I ordered a half size large and it worked. My one concern is these shoes are wide and 'klunky.' They have massive soles and are heavy (compared to the JungleMocs) but I like their style and they are comfortable. I expect them to work well through all kinds of weather this winter. I'm glad I bought them and expect years of good wear.

I really like these shoes. I bought them to replace my North Face boots that had split at a seam after about a year so I decided to find another brand, and I'm happy that I found Keen. I really like the low height on these, as I live in a city so there are very few instances where I'll be walking in deep snow (hopefully), and mainly just have to deal with slush on the sidewalks... for that, these shoes are perfect and have great traction. I wore them all day yesterday and had no issues with slick surfaces. They fit a bit loose, but the length was very accurate. I think the looseness is from the slip on aspect. Wearing two pairs of socks fixed the issue (and provided much needed extra warmth).

These shoes are awesome. OK, if your ankles are a bit larger, they do tend to make the front of your ankles sore for about three days until they break in. So if you can deal with the pain for a few days, they fit excellent, they don't slip, and rub the back of your heal. They fit perfect. I wear them all day every day. Soles don't slip on wet surfaces. They are warm but not hot. I wear a size 12 in any shoe, these fit right with regular tube socks, don't think I could get wool socks on with these. They recommend a half size larger, but don't offer a 12.5. I might get a size 13 just to wear on the really cold days with wool socks. I love Keens and these are definitely my favorites

Size: 10.5 D(M) USColor: Slate Black/Madder Brown Verified Purchase
An Excellent Shoe, Bottom line: Size was a concern after I read many who said to order 1/2 size larger. I wanted to wear socks with this and have the 10.5 mens Keen sandals I love so, since those fit perfectly I ordered the size 11 shoe... Wrong choice, Too big, but with Amazon's forgive and exchange I was able to pop the size 11's in the box and send back with the handy printout label provided by Amazon. Within a few days, over the weekend, I had the exchanged size 10.5 which is really perfect. Okay, now to trying out the shoes, First off, the only complaint, and it is small, is the sides do hit my ankle bone too like someone else also said. The solution for that for me was to wear heavy socks, and over time the shoes will get used to the fact that I have an ankle bone right where the top sides of the shoes are. The shoes are flexible and are already giving in to that problem and I anticipate there will be no further issue over the next few days of time wearing them. The Best Part, and the reason I wanted these shoes is that they are liberally wide and strong on the bottom with tread like a Mac Truck. This gives me a good solid footing on winter ground conditions, rain, wet, muddy, - Let me tell you, I walk my dogs come rain or even worse weather and I'm out in it every day and often. These shoes are like having a brand new Mercedes for your feet. Keen Men's Brixen Lo Waterproof Insulated Shoe keeps my feet dry, comfortable and set apart from the elements. There is no bad weather, only bad shoes, and these are good shoes, the best. I'm happy as I have tried everything and the one's I like and still have a pair I alternate with the Keen's now is the Merrill slip on Waterproof Moc. I have two pair because I let each pair air dry in the house while I'm using the other pair. I've talked enough about these now, Get 'em, even if you have to go back and forth to get the right size. As I see it now, just get the size you are and that will probably be perfect, as it is for me.

I've been a fan of Keen shoes for years, originally digging the Providence model and their water sandals. In recent years they seemed to have lost it but these Brixen Lo shoes really capture the spirit again. They are running small though. The last pair of Keen I bought were 13, so I ordered 14 this time. These turned out well, allowing some thicker socks to be worn as well.

Not a big reviewer, but thought I should tell people about these shoes as there is one surprising aspect. First the background - my feet get cold, so I need insulated shoes and I am not a big fan of getting my feet wet, so waterproof is also a requirement. Until now, I had been wearing Salomon Men's Eskape Mid GTX Hiking Boot (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008JFC1LE?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage), but they were starting to tear after two years of daily use. And I wanted something that goes on/off faster. So I got the Keens.

On the positive side, they keep my feet warm as advertized. Hasn't rained yet, but they seem waterproof, so that is fine too. The sizing is a bit big, so my heels slide out a little, esp. if I walk fast, but that is somewhat expected in a slip on. So far, so good.

The big surprise - at least to me - these shoes are UGLY! I'm a software guy (as you may have already surmised), so what do I care. I asked people at work (people 30 years younger than I) thinking that perhaps these weren't ugly, but just in fashion (another subject about which I know nothing). But no, the unanimous opinion is that these shoes are UGLY.

I am going to wear them every day until they fall apart (or fail to protect me in the coming rainy season) - but I didn't want anyone to say that they weren't warned.
