I was a little hesitate to purchase this over the internet for a couple of reasons: the first is that Amazon on the day I purchased the bed had no picture (I had to goggle it), they now have a picture, the other is that the price was so cheap, I was worried that the bed was not going to be sturdy. To my surprise, this bed is very study and heavy. The only con is that it took hours to put together. My daughter loves her bed. I also received it VERY FAST, within 5 days. I am very pleased

It's exactly what I expected. the only downside to it was the assembly. It was pretty hard to do by myself and initially when you look at all the pieces and the directions it can be overwhelming. But I didn't knock down the rating for it because the directions do suggest using two people and the fact that one person can build within several hours is okay. Anyway its a very sturdy bed and the kids love having a "couch" in their room.

We bought this bunk bed for my step daughter's 12th birthday and after it was delivered promptly (our typical Amazon experience), we put it together in one miserable night. And miserable was right - the smaller pieces of hardware (bolts, nuts, etc.) aren't labeled, the diagrams aren't labeled, and assembly in general was frustrating and annoying - and this is coming from two quite handy and rather tough adults. The biggest problem was with the futon mechanism, which is so stiff and uncooperative that we put it on (correctly), but couldn't get it into any position other than flat (bed position), or a vertical "V" shape that no human could sit on - i don't think even the cats would like it. So we thought we were wrong, so we removed it, flipped them, and tried again - again this time we couldn't get it into any other position. Finally one of us (who will remain unrevealed) got so annoyed that the bed was hit and pop! right into couch position, unfortunately facing the wrong flipping way. So one more un- and re-assembly, and some incredibly stiff transitions and assembly was finally finished. Since that time she's been sleeping on it, but prefers the lower portion by-and-large - its a bit shaky when she climbs up, which is disconcerting, and the rungs to the ladder are perfectly round metal bars, so they're slippery. Also there's no gap at the top of the ladder to make flopping into the bunk easier. Otherwise, its alright - on a tight budget, its do-able, but you might want to bear in mind that it is cheap quality, and we don't expect it to last more than a few years. Since that's really all we need it for, we're ok with that, but don't think you're investing in quality or you'll be disappointed.

12 year old uses the top bunk
14 year old football player uses the bottom bunk

They love this bed. It's very sturdy. They put it together themselves. I gave'em my tools and they stayed up all night putting it together. Make sure you don't tighten any of the screws before completely assembling, or you will have issues and have to go back and loosen them to complete the assembly. The bed looks great, and does what it is supposed to do. I recommend this purchase.

BTW - 12 yr old is pretty skinny kid, and 14 yr old is under 150 lb, with heavy athletic build. The bed accommodates them both, no problem.

This is without a doubt the worst purchase I have ever made on Amazon and I have been a frequent customer for years. Pay close attention to the negative reviews. First and foremost, the bed arrived with pieces that were damaged and/or broken in shipment. This alone should have been an indication to me that the bed was NOT the best quality (that...and the price). Despite, my gut instincts, I called the company and asked for replacements which was probably the ONLY highlight of the entire ordeal. They were extremely cooperative. All I had to do was give them the part number and they shipped out the pieces (there were about four broken pieces) within a few days (their efficiency is probably a result of numerous calls of the same nature). It took me a few hours to put the bed together by myself. It was tedious but not difficult at all. (Disclaimer: I am weird in that I enjoy putting stuff together so it may have been just me, but unlike some of the other customers, I didn't find it difficult at all). Once it was up I noticed that it was extremely wobbly. Additionally with each passing week (it's been four months now), once a week I find a screw on the floor that has fallen out. Mind you, I put the thing together with an electric screw driver. To add insult to injury, one of the thin intermediary bars on the front of the top bunk broke off. I've gotten to the point where I will not allow my son to sleep in it because I'm scared the thing is going to topple over. There are two "hooks" that you are supposed to place on the futon to keep the mattress from sliding off...this would be great if THEY didn't constantly pop of themselves. One of the four posts came bent. Since this is a major part we couldn't put it together ar all. I called the number for a replacemet ans aftee 2 weeks its still not here. All they do is yes you to death.
