The long awaited fourth album and abit disappointed. As a huge fan of The Sounds, I love all their previous albums, I've seen them live and they KNOW how to perform! The first and second albums they had a good mix of rock and electronic, the third they went more rock which I personally thought was a good move...the fourth here they went more electronic... Lyrics wise...a song called the no no song and another yeah yeah yeah...?? The guys though have more vocal input in the songs which actually I like..

1. It's so Easy (3.5/5) An intro of repetitive beats and lyrics but it does get d head boppin

2. Dance with the Devil (4/5) Maja's voice sounds more electronic and which of the guys got their voice soundin like a robot?, lotsa big horns but it could be their next single..catchy

3. The No No Song (4/5) Actually a typical 'The Sounds' sound...catchy as usual

4. Better Off Dead (5/5)One of their singles, Maja's voice sounds more electronic

5. Diana (2/5) I don't really like the beat to this song..usually their songs have an 80's vibe to it but like with this one they went further back in time...my least fav. usually skippable in my book...

6. Something to Die For (5/5) The other single and title track...weird intro but it stands out...

7. Yeah Yeah Yeah (4/5)..It maybe is the second half of the no no song...

8. Won't Let Them Tear Us Apart (3/5)..it's definitely d filler song...it's just average to me nothing special...forgettable..I don't see them playin' this one in one of their concerts..

9. The Best of Me (4/5).."This life is gettin' the best of me"..Maja belts out...I like this one...supposed to be the 'serious' song on the album

10. Wish You Were Here (4/5)..

If you're expecting to listen to songs like their debut album or the second "less appealing" album here you may look somewhere else because you won't find that in "Something to die for". First of all I must say that this record and the last one (Crossing the rubbicon-2009) have been THE BEST albums to date from this band. Although when "Crossing the rubbicon" was released I said that the album would've been a huge hit in the 80's but not so much in 2009. Well, this is not the case with "Something to die for". The fact that the band decided to produce this record themselves, walk away from a multimillionare record company to create their own label, and to distribute it with other indie labels IS obviously noticed in the music itself. The Sounds have always been one these bands that play for fun, to have a good time but, at the same time you notice that they take things seriously when it comes to the music they like to make eventhough Maja's lyrics and the sound they work with are not exactlyt a thinker. The point is that if this album had been released from the record company where they were before probably we would've killed this record by saying that they SOLD OUT here.

There are here some songs that sound more electronic than ever but still you can notice how the songs have this indie aura around them and even some moments where The Sounds try to go experimental. "Better off dead", "Something to die for", and "Won't let them tear us apart" are the examples for this statement.

I have been a fan of The Sounds ever since I first saw them in 2003 and they never cease to amaze me with their awesome talent. I love all of their albums, but personally, I think this new album is one of their best. It's always nice to see a band progress musically and with Something To Die For, you can definitely see that. The lyrics, the beats, the vocals, everything is so well polished, so awesome, I can't help but dance around whenever I'm listening to it. I can see why The Sounds are proud of this one.

I first heard of The Sounds when watching Scream 4, the song "Something to Die For" is featured within the film. But having watched that movie introduced me to this awesome band! I have to say, I wasn't too sure what I was getting, but it was worth every penny!

1. It's So Easy (3/5)
2. Dance With the Devil (3/5)
3. The No No Song (4/5)
4. Better Off Dead (5/5)
5. Diana (3/5)
6. Something to Die For (5/5)
7. Yeah Yeah Yeah (5/5)
8. Won't Let Them Tear Us Apart (5/5)
9. The Best of Me (3/5)
10. Wish You Were Here (3/5)

Overall this album has a very unique sound, and it worth checking out. I have to say my personal favorite from this album is "Yeah Yeah Yeah". If you're looking for a great album for 2011, this is definitely one to choose.

Formed in 1999, The Sounds have been steadily releasing studio albums every 2-3 years. As the years have passed, their sound has steadily become more electronic, but they have remained easily recognizable thanks, largely, to Maja Ivarsson's unique voice. Ivarsson's vocals are full and always come out clearly in a mix, but there's a hint of strain in her voice that sets her apart from all other pop vocalists.

The opening electronic fade in that encompasses "It's So Easy" adds synthesized instruments and harmonies to a looped vocal part; introducing the style of the album and convincing listeners to get out of their seats before "Dance With the Devil" begins thumping the ears.

Repeating "we conquer our planet with dance" each chorus, it's clear The Sounds have fully accepted their transition into the dance world.

The Sounds occasionally keep one foot planted firmly in the '80s as on "Better Off Dead," but "Something to Die For" spends as much time looking forward as it does looking back. "Won't Let Them Tear Us Apart" and "The No No Song" both still utilize a strong electric guitar showing similar to The Sounds' earlier albums, but the album as a whole is a light-hearted dance record.

"Something to Die For" closes with "Wish You Were Here," a ballad reminiscent of "Night After Night" off their album "Dying to Say This to You." With nine tracks all featuring faster tempos, "Wish You Were Here" stands alone as it closes The Sounds' fourth studio release; quietly reminding fans they are far from one dimensional.

"Dying to Say This to You" is still The Sounds crowning achievement to date, but "Something to Die For" finds The Sounds moving in a new direction which could very easily skyrocket their popularity.

It's nice to see a new wave band displaying some originality after being around for a while.
