I cannot find these Squids anywhere but online. I have removed almost all of my power strips and replaced them with the Squid. It is a simple solution to a crowded plug problem. Every now and then Woot (owned by Amazon) will list the Squid as their Deal of the Day and I grab as many as I can.

Not only does it free up electrical outlets that are blocked by the large rectangle built in power supplies, but it also terrifies both of our cats as they don't fully understand what that green tentacled thing on the floor is behind the desk and bed with the blazing light eyeball (the switch).

Nearly every battery powered device these days is charged by one of those ubiquitous wall warts. You've seen them - you probably have at least a half dozen already - big rectangular boxes each containing a transformer to convert the 120 volts AC from the wall to DC to charge or power your devices.

That's OK if you have one charging a phone, laptop, media player or portable game station at every night stand or desk in your house, but what if you're out of town and would like to charge everything from one or two outlets in a hotel or guest bedroom?

Forget those multi-outlet power strips. They may have eight outlets, but sometimes they will handle, at most, three wall warts.

It looks like it belongs by a hose or garden shed. It's an ugly green. Who in marketing thought that was a good idea? These aren't things people buy to decorate with. Stick with black or white. If it wasn't so much trouble I would return it.

The thing about modern electronics is you now have a million and three different shapes of plugs to fit into. So the standard power strip constantly ends up half unused.

Feeling slightly depressed at the price difference between a power strip and the squid, I'd been thinking about a power squid for a while. I've gotten tired of the sliding block puzzle every time I have to plug something new in.

The power squid absolutely does what I need it to. I'm no longer trying to fool around trying to plug things in without eliminating other plugs due to size or shape.

But because I'm using this in my home, I wish it looked a little less... Like a utility extension cord.

The appearance isn't a deal breaker, it's just something I'm going to keep in mind, if I buy a second one. I'll have to decide whether it's worth the price difference.
