I have over 700 GB of photos that I backup off of my computer. I want to keep at least the last two full weekly backups plus daily incrementals available at all times. In order to do this I purchased the Seagate 4TB GoFlex with a USB 3.0 interface. In order to optimize that, I needed a USB 3.0 interface on my computer, which it was lacking, so I purchased this card. It fits in a PCI Express slot (make sure your computer has at least one available before purchasing. The other item to check is that it needs a floppy disk power plug in case you need to supply power to the external USB device ( I'm not sure that it's necessary for self powered devices). New computers (the same ones that have PCI Express ports) don't have floppy disks. I had to try several electronics stores in town to find a floppy disk power cord to add to my power supply plugs. Now that it's installed, it has worked flawlessly. The important thing is to make sure your computer will support it.

This card is frankly a bizarre concoction, and a badly documented one at that. On the one hand, it won't work in systems without a PCIx slot - so older systems (especially servers) need not apply. On the other hand, it expects to be powered with a floppy drive power cable, so most new systems need not apply either! In fairness, a cheap Molex-to-floppy power cable adapter will address the power issue. But why would a card providing a 2011 innovation have a key component that was phased out in 2004? And why wouldn't they include the flippin' adapter? Well, maybe it's not necessary at all - while the printed install instructions say to plug it into the power supply, some "forum documentation" on this card seems to indicate that the PCI bus can supply enough juice for this thing to work without being connected to the power supply directly at all. But you sure can't tell what the right answer is from Rocketfish's website, which has three questions on this issue with completely contradictory answers.

My computer (Gateway 5228) is older now and I want to backup many files and folders to a 1TB drive but I knew it would take EONS if I copied them over via USB 2. Therefore I made the upgrade to USB 3 using this card. So far its been another great investment. 7GB of data over USB 2 takes about 4 minutes; on USB 3 it takes less than 45 seconds. Is there anything more to say!?!

Installation is easy. It comes with an installation CD that contains the drivers. The instructions call for a connection to the 4-pin floppy power cord inside your computer, but you'll only need this if you want to charge devices when the computer is off using the USB port.

I have tried 3 different USB 3.0 cards, on two of my computers, in the past couple months. They are listed below in the order I purchased them.

-Western Digital SuperSpeed USB 3.0 PCI Express (PCIe) Card-
Works perfectly. Transfers at USB 3.0 speeds as advertised. The computer the card went into did not have a CD drive so I had to find the drivers on WD's website. I like this card the best because the USB ports are lit up blue. This card is currently not offered as Amazon prime. That brings me to the next card.

-Uspeed Superspeed USB 3.0 PCI-E Express Card with 4 USB 3.0 Ports and 4-Pin Power Connector for Desktops-
I bought this card because the WD card wasn't available. This card was a nightmare. The driver disk was an unlabeled mini disk that was missing necessary files for installation. Running setup only produced an error. I found the drivers on their website but they didn't help. The card would only transfer at USB 2.0 speeds (37 MB/s tops). I sent it back after 5 hours of frustration.

-Rocketfish USB 3.0 PCI Express Card RF-P2USB3-
This was the easiest to install. I put it in the computer, powered up, installed drivers, and started transferring data at 90 MB/s in less than 10 minutes. It was the easiest because it went into a computer with a CD drive so installing the drivers from the included disk was a breeze. The only problem people may have is that this card requires a 4-pin power plug, same as the ones used for floppy drives. I had to make sure my power supply had one before buying this card since it does not come with an adapter. Search Amazon for "floppy drive power adapter"

The Rocketfish USB 3.0 PCI - Express card provides an inexpensive means to add USB 3.0 to your computer. The card worked as expected right out of the box. It is especially useful to me as I regularly edit and archive large video files. Before you order this item, make sure you have an available PCI-e slot.

I was hesitant about buying used electronics. but this PCIe card came in the original box with all parts and instructions. This the second Rocketfish USB 3.0 I installed in this computer, plug and play, no extra power needed. Very satisfied. Harold S.

I got this card to upgrade my Core i5 desktop to USB 3.0. This was a simple installation. After physically installing the card in the motherboard I went to the Rocketfish website to obtain the latest drivers. After installing the drivers it worked perfectly. I'm highly satisfied.

I installed this on my Gateway FX6901 desktop computer with no problems. Had to removed the telephone modem, which I never use, to make room for it. I had read a warning somewhere not to use the driver on the CD which came with it, so I downloaed the driver from the Rocketfish site.

The installation was totally without problems.

I had tried another brand of card previously but could not get it to work.
