Real Avid Gun Tool - Excellent space saving device - it replaced five other things in my range bag

Recommend that you give the tool a good wipe down and then lube the joints with something like PB Blaster PB-50 to smooth operation.

Some have noted that the tool is very tight: If you find the components difficult to get out, try using a small star tool to adjust the case bolts to the tension that you desire. The PB was very effective for me so no bolt adjustments were needed, and the tools are easy to implement just using my fingers... except the blade which remains stiff. Since the blade is very sharp, I think it is best to remain somewhat tougher to get out in order to avoid unintentional opening.

This tool let me take a bunch of stuff out of my range bag -- three small screwdrivers, a shotgun choke tool, a knife, a small set of allen wrenches, one Glock punch and two star tools. While most of those items were in a ziploc bag, this tools freed up space and it looks a lot better coming out of the range bag than the ziploc bag did.

I definitely recommend this tool if you have a few moments to make tweaks like those noted above. Take care of the gear and it will take care of you.

Useful..but

It is very convenient having all the tools this provides in one handy tool. My one down side is that it should have came with some type of extension for the driver bits because they are so close to the tool I find it hard to get to some places on my guns in the field. Its no issue in the shop where I have all my tools, but thats not what this was for. I would have gave it 3 stars, however, it is very well built so I'm only going to fault it on personal preference.

, Great gift idea for a gun enthusiast or any guy who owns a firearm. This is named on the package as a rifle/shot gun tool, but when I looked at it, I recognized elements in it that would have definitely made my task of mounting a small lazer site on my small handgun much easier, in fact, this is how I started searching for a gunsmithing tool and stumbled on this one, wound up buying it for my BF since I had already mounted my site with use of other less appropriate things I had in my toolbox. Wish I had this baby then! so to put it shortly: VERSATILE, not only for rifles and shot guns. It is larger than I thought it would be, I expected something a size of a pocket multi-tool, but this has a generously sized handle, definitely feels more like a tool, something like 6" long and with substantial weight to is (with all the gadgets it contains). doesn't feel like a small cheap deal, MANLY. I anticipate this gadget is capable of saving you some gunsmithing costs and time, enabling you to perform simple tasks by yourself rather than going to a gunsmith.

For about $15 it's handy

For about $15 it's handy. you might need to add some bits to it for your personal use but for a pocket tool it's good enough for the field. Better then carrying your whole tool box with you for emergency situations. The bits could be a little longer but like I said tailor it to fit your needs. It does have a little weight to it so be aware of that if you don't like to carry an extra 1/2# in your pocket.

Falls short of reliable

This tool was quite useful and practical to carry. I used it mostly for occasional adjustments on various firearms. Mostly sighting in optics, ocassionally tightening accessories on rails or during assembling and disassembling of components. The biggest weakness of the tool, the bits. The whole bit assembly and components, are in my opinion, sub par. The one time I was under a time crunch to make a quick repair to get my firearm functioning, I snapped the plastic tool case holding the magnetic bit end. I mean shattered it beyond repair. The bits are no longer of use. The other tools still see some use (allen keys, punch, windage/elevation adjuster) so it hasn't rendered the tool useless. However, it's definitely not my "all-in-one" and since it failed on me during "civilian" use, I wouldn't recommend anyone trusting more than an evening out on the range with it. And wven then, you may want to bring some screw drivers just in case.

For the range, not for the workbench

This isn't *really* everything you need, but it's a lot of it. This plus a Leatherman / multi-tool will generally cover any field maintenance work. It's not really enough for the bench- you'll want more sizes of hex-heads, screwdriver bits, specialized things like armorer's wrenches, etc.

Some of the fold-out tools are a bit loose and tend to flop around... annoying, but not a deal-breaker for me. It's a bit awkward to use any one tool, but that's kinda the name of the game with most multi-tools... jack of all trades, master of none.

For me, it goes in the range bag. I use it for minor problems, like loose sights, grip panels, etc. For anything more serious, I reach for more dedicated tools.

Great quality tool for the price! Made a perfect gift!

I can't really speak for the actual application of this tool (use-wise) because I purchased it as a gift, but I wanted to share a few points for those considering it. It arrived well packaged and on-time. The tool itself is encased in a very professional looking factory blister pack. All appearances indicated that it is of good quality and heavy weight (certainly doesn't appear too cheap or tiny, quite the opposite). It's a nice size, big enough to actually be useful, but still small enough to easily throw in a coat pocket. The people I bought it for loved it! Made an EXCELLENT gift for the hard to shop for guys on my list!
