This is an adorable back pack, but if your child is going to school don't order this size. When we got it my son was so excited but then it didn't fit his folder for school so we had to order another one.

The 'snack' part is simply a plastic lined zippered compartment. Since we have to 'pack a lunch' for our toddler, we have to pack a lunch bag, not put it in the pouch. And the pouch isn't insulated enough to keep cold things cold, so it's not really usable.

Also, this is being used by a fairly large 2 year old (37 lbs) who is built solidly. And this is too wide for him to wear comfortably. It's a bit small for an older child though.

Anyway, it's made well enough and is holding up fine, and he uses it frequently, so I only took off 1 start for the usability of the 'snack' part. The zipper gets a LOT of use, and it's holding up just fine after a few months, so am happy that we got this. My grandson loves his 'camo pack'.

Love these backpacks. I got the Owl pattern and my daughter (15 months) gets tons of compliments on her backpack. It is a little big for her but it doesn't drag on the floor or anything. My son had the truck pattern (from age 2-3) which lasted over a year (would have used it longer but the car door closed on it and broke some key pieces). Highly recommend this backpack!

We love this backpack. It's the perfect size for a Kindergartener and has convenient side webbing for holding a water bottle. This backpack seems very sturdy and after two months' usage there are no visible signs of wear (and believe me, this backpack gets tossed about). Thanks for a great product!

My son loves his back pack. It's perfect size for him. He's 4 years old in preschool. Love the pouch in front. When he stays for lunch at school it's easy to pack in the front pocket with an ice pack. The colors are great too! One thing I'd change and the reason for the 4 stars is the side pocket I stick his water bottle but it doesn't allow the cup to go all the way to the bottom so it can sit on counter, it flops the backpack over. It's sewn up higher. If it went to bottom of bag it would allow the bottle to stand up when bag is on floor or counter with bottle inside. I also am on my second one. First one the handle at top started unsewing within a couple weeks. Not a big deal though. They shipped me a new one and this one is still fine! :)

I bought this backpack for an upcoming trip. I love the extra features: the side drink pocket, and the fact that this bag includes a "lunchbox" compartment- I can throw a small ice pack in with my daughter's snacks and not need a separate insulated lunchbag to keep things cold. The main compartment is roomy enough to hold her ipad mini, headphones, a change of clothes, and spare diaper! It's very well made, so I'm sure it will hold up and work great for preschool next year. I may have also freaked out slightly at the cuteness of the dinosaur design!

I give it 3 stars only because it's too small for a folder...which I didn't realize my daughter would need to use. If it was just a tiny bit bigger, it would definitely be 5 stars. It bent the folder less than an inch but it was messing up her homework so I had to switch it out. It's Very well made, fits a drink on the side. I bought it for my kindergarden daughter but now my toddler is using it just for fun.
