This album gathers all of Dybdahl's greatest work into a seamlessly put together compilation that feels more like a complete album than anything else.
For anyone not already familiar with Dybdahl, this is simply the greatest place to start.
Songs is a wonderfully balanced album, the album Dybdahl has been working on for eight years, and it surely doesn't disappoint in that respect.
One of the greatest songwriters and voices Norway has ever seen, absolutely worth a listen.

I first heard of this artist late at night from my local TV channel which was playing this Songs album over the weather information.

What a voice and what beautiful songs.

I'm glad to have stumbled upon Thomas Dybdhal because he is one of those few artists who can captivate the listener throughout the whole album.

Format: Audio CD
This is Thomas Dybdahl's third compilation album, preceded by collections titled "Thomas Dybdahl" and "En Samling." The music provides a good selection from Dybdahl's first four albums, although a couple of my favorite Dybdahl songs, Love's Lost and Maury the Pawn, are notably missing. The songs segue into each other in much the same way as the songs on the original albums do, giving this more cohesiveness than most compilations. His style is more R&B than pop/rock, but he borrows elements from jazz, folk, and C&W. He has a nice voice and he often sings softly. This collection creates a relaxed, mellow mood. If you prefer having a physical CD this collection may be your best bet for getting Dybdahl's music in the U.S. Most of his CDs were never released in the U.S., and although you can find his earlier CDs online, they are starting to get expensive.
