I got this starter kit when I purchased the new Samsung UN55D7000 T.V., for the most part the glasses work very well. They are relatively light and are for the most part comfortable to wear ( I do have a problem with them causing some discomfort if I wear them high on my nose where they should be, have to drop them down a bit ). I also purchased last years starter kit ( model # SSG-P2100T ) after buying the LN55C750 LCD tv which I returned due to unacceptable flaws, and the glasses in that kit are pretty much identical to this years kit. The one thing I dislike about this kit compared to the kit of last year is that this years kit does not come with protective pouches for the glasses like the other kit I purchased, which is the only reason I took a star off the rating IMO you spend this much money on glasses you don't want them to get scrached up. Other then that I recommend this starter kit.

Pros: light wieght, comfortable for the most part, comes with 5 3D movies ( first 3 Shreks were not filmed in 3D but converted to 3D not a pro but not the fault of Samsung either )

Cons: Kit does not come with protective pouches and glasses arent rechargable.

The glasses work great but are far to fragile for typical family use. The first set I ordered bundled in this 3-D Blue Ray pack came with cracked lenses in an intact box! The second set came in good condition but one pair fell off the sofa onto a wood floor and a lens cracked. Far more delicate than a typical pair of sunglasses. Realistically, if you have kids or teenagers these $50 glasses are not going to last very long. Honestly, they should be more rugged.

These glasses look the same as the 2010 IR models, but they are tweaked a little and fit better IMO. The BT connection works great and I enjoyed them. Also got Megamind AND Shrek 4 when I turned in the voucher.

I just got this package last night and I couldn't wait to play them! I opened it up and was reading about how to sync the glasses and it wasn't working. I was like "Aw man, I got a dud!" but then I realized there were no batteries! (They are attached to the lens cloths BTW) I installed the batteries, powered them on and POW! 3D TV! Two of the movies (Shrek 4 and Mastermind) are not included you have to submit either a mail-in or online form. NOTE: There is a slip of paper in the instruction manual that has the NEW model #. You will need that AND the serial number off the package for the free DVDs. SO MAKE SURE YOU DON'T DESTROY/TRASH the box. Happy viewing!

I recently ordered a Samsung 3D television and this (along with a 3D bluray player) was offered free with the purchase.

It is great to get all of these movies and the glasses in a bundle. Despite several reviewers' dislike of the glasses not being rechargeable, I actually like it. The batteries seem to last a long time, and I like having the ability to just pop in a new battery when the old one dies, rather than waiting for my glasses to charge. My only complaint is the lack of a case for the glasses (but they do come with cloth to clean the lenses)

*IMPORTANT NOTE* : the details on this page say that this product comes with vouchers for some of the movies, but this is no longer true. All 5 movies (four shrek movies and megamind) come in the box.

I tried several of the 3D glasses for Samsung's 2011 3D HDTV lineup in a big box store, and these were some of the most comfortable to wear. I was initially off-put by the lack of built-in rechargeable battery, but the included button battery lasts a long time, and replacement batteries are extremely cheap (the glasses come with CR2305 batteries, but you can replace them with CR2302 batteries, which should provide a little more run time, as well). Add to that the cheaper upfront cost for the non-rechargeable glasses, and these glasses seemed like the best choice.

The 3D Starter Kit bundle made the glasses a no brainer, as it gave us five 3D animated movies for almost the same cost as the glasses by themselves. The movies themselves look great, and our Blu-ray player also lets us play them in 2D mode for when we just prefer to watch them normally - typically when younger kids want to watch, or when it's too bright in the room, as reflections from other light sources on the glasses can be distracting when trying to watch. We normally do most of our 3D movie viewing at night.

One thing to keep in mind is that the lenses in these glasses are actually individual LCD screens, so you need to take great care not to scratch or apply too much pressure to them. Keeping a microfiber cloth handy to clean off stray fingerprints or the occasional "thanks for sneezing right in Daddy's face, munchkin," is highly advisable; you don't want to risk using your shirt or a paper towel and having any coarse fibers scratch the lenses.Read more ›
