I don't know what the other reviewers of this phone are having a problem with. I have a very small studio here in New York City and I have a currently free landline compliments of Google Voice (at least for the time being) and an OBI110. I have a great 4A Speakerphone from western Electric as an extension on the line and I use it for most of my conversation, but i needed a simple cordless phone for occasional talking. This phone sounds great and I've experienced NO interference or static with it. This is simple, no frills Cordless phone that fill the bill for me. It's very minimal. The only complaint I would give it was that it took an entire 8 hours to charge. Since then it's worked flawlessly on my VOIP line. Maybe the situation would be different in a larger area, but the signal is strong. If you have DSL phone service (Which I don't), you will need a DSL filter on most cordless phones so that may be the issue with the other reviews. Just my 2 Cents.

This cordless phone is absolutely a phone. I got home phone service with my cable bundle, so I figured I should probably purchase a phone to use said service.

This phone works and makes and receives calls. In your home. I got it to work in my yard, too. Reception is clear for at least 50-100 feet, through a half dozen or so walls.

At this point, I think it's kinda strange to have a house phone, having gone years without anything but internet service and a cell phone, but I don't regret picking up this phone. It's oddly nostalgic.

Anyway, it works. Don't be afraid to buy it.

ORIGINAL REVIEW: I was moving to a new place and didn't even want a land line, but then realized I also didn't want to give everyone in the world my cell #. So just thought I'd buy a cheap home phone. But please, whether it's cheap or not I kind of expect a phone to work well. The sound quality on this fades in and out. One second it sounds like you're talking to someone in the middle of a hurricane and the next second it's OK. But you can't count on it being OK, so it really won't do at all. You kind of need a phone you can depend on whether it's an inexpensive one or not. I'm shocked that AT&T would even produce such a poor quality phone. Spend a little bit more for something that actually functions correctly.

UPDATE: I found a spare "phone filter" that came with my internet line and plugged it into the wall jack in the kitchen and plugged the phone line into that and voila - it actually works just great. So I've changed my review from horrible to great!

Hi Jillian. Thanks for your review. 2 points of clarification. Your phone is a VTech, not AT&T. Also, the user's manual clearly recommends the use of a DSL line filter if you suscribe to DSL internet service. These filters are provided by your internet service company. Enjoy your phone!

I like this phone. There's nothing intrinsically wrong with it. The sound quality is excellent, the battery allows the phone to be left off the base for a couple days. It's a good, inexpensive telephone. I have one in each of three bedrooms.

I rate it 5 stars as compared to similarly priced phones. It does not have bells and whistles that a $130 phone might have but that does not apply; this is an inexpensive item and it is most adequate for what it's designed to do...to make and receive phone calls.

I had to buy a phone in a hurry and picked this up at Walmart. It is hooked up to a digital connection. It is cute, lightweight, fits easily on my desk, and I have had no trouble with it at all. What I find I need is another phone with it as I am a senior and need a bedside phone as well. The voice quality is average to better than average. and after reading the manual a few times, it is easy to use. It is not the biggest/best out there, but the for the price I paid, I got a bargain.
