I said to myself one morning, "Hey, cross stitching could be fun for a 23 year old male to have as a hobby", so I went on Amazon and did a little searching. What did I find? THIS ROBOT!! Ever since then, I don't go anywhere without him.

This product is great. It comes with everything you need (needle, cross stitch fabric, strings) and detailed instructions. I only had to google how to tie a fancy knot because I couldn't figure it out.

The whole thing took me around 3 hours to complete and I only cussed once or twice while making it. Don't hesitate to get started, embrace your inner seamstress.

This is not an item I would recommend for the beginner, unless they have already had a lot of experience with the preprinted plastic needlepoint kits. This canvas is cloth and not preprinted. I purchased it as a first craft for my seven year old, thinking it was preprinted. She found it very frustrating as a first-time project and I had to help her quite a bit. It's a lovely little keepsake once completed, but not something I would recommend if you're trying to build confidence in your crafter.

This is the perfect first needlepoint project! It is preprinted on a cloth canvas, with easy to follow instructions. It makes a lovely little keepsake and there is plenty of room to embroider your initials and the date in the corner. I would recommend this for the beginning crafter, aged six to twelve, or older if you're just learning needlepoint.

I bought this project about a year and a half ago for my daughter at the local craft store. I assumed my daughter would be interested in it (silly me for assuming!) but it ended up sitting untouched until our recent move when it was unearthed. My daughter literally tripped over it when I was unpacking my room and practically begged me to start it. Obviously it appeals to kids. My daughter just had other, more interesting crafts on her plate when me got it.

My daughter (currently 9) has been cruising through this project. She only has some of the back stitching left to do because we ran out of light in the day before she could finish it. She's hasn't needed much help, but this is her first embroidery project of any kind, so she's in unfamiliar territory and not very confident in her own skills. She likes a lot of hand-holding when it comes to craft projects.

When considering this project for your own child, I should point out some readiness skills that will be very helpful when deciding if this craft would be good:

* Chart Reading - Can your child read and follow a chart? If you are unfamiliar with counted cross stitch, the chart will give you all the information on what color should be used on each piece of the chart, as well as for the back stitching.

* Counting and Remembering Numbers - Yes counting is a very basic skill, but they will need to count the blocks on the graph and match them to the graphs on the aida cloth.

* Manual Dexterity and Coordination - Unlike the plastic used in needlepoint, the blocks on the aida cloth can split. This can be frustrating if a child splits one of the blocks by accident and needs to undo a mistake.

I had no experience with cross stitch before, and this kit explains well how to do so. It is a completed kit, with everything you need.
Great product for learning, for a cheap price. The pattern is simple and nice.

I recommend this for begginers.

This is a good beginner kit, but if you are buying this for a child, be aware that you will likely need to offer some guidance--the kit is not preprinted and the instructions, while somewhat useful, are not completely clear on how you should organize stitches.

It was fine for me, but I'm a 29-year-old who used to cross-stitch when I was 12 so it was easier for me to pick up on than I suspect it might be for a young kid.

That said, the final result is cute and worth the effort for a first project.

I bought this because I was interested in learning the basics of cross stitch so I could create a larger project. I wanted a small, simple project that would outline the basics.

Everything is included - Needle, Thread/Floss, Aida cloth, hoop, pattern.

It outlines the basics, but I found myself looking at a couple videos on youtube to perfect my technique before starting.

The whole robot took me about 2.5 hours or so.
