I am a college student and have been playing drums for nearly 15 years. I have owned a Schlagwerk Cajon for a few years now, and I have admit that it is my favorite portable instrument. I think I got lucky buying mine, because I didn't really know what I was looking for when I found it. But after playing several other cajons of various brands, I know for a fact that I could not have made a better choice. It is BY FAR the highest quality latin percussion instrument I have ever encountered, let alone become familiar with. The sound is articulate, and the drum gives off a punchy, meaty tone. The snare sound is snappy, but the bass has a surprising amount of resonance (usually, in cajons you kind of have to sacrifice one for the other-- in most, the snare sounds pretty good, but the bass definitely does NOT...).

Anyways, GREAT product. Worth the extra money, compared to the other drums that are common and readily available.
Thank you, Schlagwerk, for the awesome quality.

As a musician for over 20 years I have played a lot of cajons and the Schlagwerk Cajons have an amazing sound, excellent playability, and superior craftsmanship. The snare sound is tight and responsive, and the bass is crisp and clear. In my opinion Schlagwerk's are making some of the best cajon's on the market. You can buy cheaper cajons, but the Schlagwerk's Cajon is worth every penny.

Sounds sharp but the overall tone is pretty meh...

Construction quality is good but the sound is on par with much cheaper box drums, The snares sound tinny and the bass leaves much to be desired... It's a fun drum for acoustic jams, but I would probably keep shopping if it wasn't out of the return window.

I have searched a long time to find a cajon like this. Its really difficult to buy this instrument over the internet, without actually playing it.

That being said, I never really looked at brand. I just had to buy them as none of my local musician shops ever had them in stock. I own 4 now each one has its own unique sound. But this one is my favorite and extremely versatile with tuning. Would highly recommend to buy this one first if your on the same road I was.

You won't be dissapointed.
