This is a very high quality product. One of my main gripes is with the middle handle, the videos advise against using this when the weight is fully loaded. Seems that there should be a warning on the bag. Filling this up was also easy. I went to Home Depot and picked up two 50 pound bags of sanitized sandbox sand for 6 bucks total. I filled the 2 bags to the recommended volume of half filled. At this volume, the sandbox sand weighed in at 35 pounds per bag, 70 pounds total. Adequate weight for doing many exercises. Much safer to slam onto my apartment floor than if I had been using a barbell.

Update: I've had a chance to play with this more and one of my favorite exercises are power cleans. I've noticed that sometimes my grip on the bag can cause chunks of skin to get torn up. Good idea to get some gloves for handling the bag during explosive movements. Also, the bag can sometimes leave some nasty imprints on your skin, keep it away from your neck if you don't want to be accused of cheating on your SO!

These bags are built tough, the inner bags don't leak sand. We change the inner bags throughout our workouts and don't have any issues. I don't see these bags ripping or tearing. My only issue that I would like to see different in the up grade of this product is the handles could be sewn so that they are closer to the bag when you lift. This would enable you to get a fuller range of motion on some exercises. This is the reason for 4 stars and not 5.
If you are new to sand bag training, first, it is great, second, you will not need as much weight as you would normally use with a dumbbell or barbell. 80 pounds in a sand bag is actually a fair amount of weight. So when figuring which bag to get first what I discovered is that I use almost 100 pounds more on barbell power exercises like hang cleans. So I hang clean 180 with a barbell, and a 80 pound sandbag does the trick.
I recommend you get at least two sizes if you can afford it.

I bought this because it was used in the bodyrock videos. I loved their workouts but decided to try them a couple of months before investing in any of the equipment they used. Two months later I bought the 10lb Ugi in Steel, Ugi Fitness at Home Kit and the dip station, Ultimate Body Press Dip Stand and this sandbag. They really upped the challenge and maximized my results.

It was a little pricey but I do think it has been worth it. This is the one item I have gotten the most use of. I had originally purchased this one Ultimate Sandbag Training: Strength Shell ONLY with the interior bags separately but as a 5'4 female with a small frame, not filling it up to its 80lb maximum made it sag somewhat. This more compact one worked better. Its so versatile and you can incorporate it some way into most of your exercises. Using this in natural body movements versus the limited range of motion you get from the machines at a gym allows you to use more muscles where you can potentially burn more calories and you get a better rounded work out overall.

Another great thing about it is that you can take it with you when you travel. When I went on vacation for three weeks, I emptied the sandbags and took it with me. Sand is not hard to find so I was able to fill it out there and use it.Read more ›

Zuzana on Bodyrock.tv got me started with this product. Then mymadmethods.com showed me how to use this strength package. It's a practical way of using every muscle in your body in a short time. The guy who invented this is in the videos as well. It is made of really strong materials and says MADE IN USA. Which is why you should get this version and not some China rip off. Yes you will feel pain in the first days but one you learn the moves, you will want to tell your friends. EXCELLENT PRODUCT.

The ultimate sandbag has a strong construction and rest assure that the handles will not rip off after adding sand weight to the bag. The sand shells appear to be very durable and retain the sand completely meaning that the sand will not come out of the bag when working out. The smaller dimensions compared to other bags of the same nature make it easier to grasp and work with while still working against the sand shift. The training can be compared to kettlebell training and cardio but appears to be in its own category. Overall this is a great gym in a bag and you will get so much use out of it. I am even considering using this bag to carry some of my scuba diving gear as well when traveling.

I'm a trainer and I've been working out for 20+ years so I've seen alot of equipment and this is by far the most useful, effective home piece of equipment I've ever experienced. I travel alot so it make this one even better with the H20 fillers. I throw this bag around, drop it on the floor and not one drop of water or sand comes out. It's one tough customer and i recommend not going cheap with this equipment if you are a serious trainer. I love it and can't say more about it.
