The problem with this product is not just the bulb itself, but apparently a combination of the bulb, heat bulb, and lamp fixture itself. This UV bulb is extremely fragile compared to a typical UV compact fluorescent bulb and lasts a quarter of the life of a fluorescent UV bulb.

I've tried replacing these several times for the lamp, as the low profile of the lamp fixture is very aesthetically pleasing, but I've decided to throw the whole unit away after 3 of these bulbs, and numerous heat bulbs for the fixture. I would suggest getting the fluorescent or long bulbs.

Do not recommend these bulbs or their parent fixture.

I have a russian tortoise. Between providing uvb daylight, night light, and heat, I was looking at having three fixtures on my cage! The light this bulb fits into will hold a night light or heat lamp in the middle, with this uvb bulb around the outside. Separate switches make this all-in-one a great product.

i received the lamp that holds these bulbs as part of a cage purchase. and the guy recommended we replace the bulb. after we replaced it, (about a month later) it burned up. so we replaced it, and again about 40 days in it burned up. so i got another. the third one lasted about 3 days and it died. i emailed the seller and they were awesome and sent a replacement. that one lasted allmost 2 months before it died. i was tiered of buying a new bulb every month. if you have a fixture that takes this bulb, get a different type. there is a reason local pet stores dont sell this bulb. it is a bad design.

Not sellers fault that its a bad product!! I can see why local pet stores dont sell it anymore. First bulb lasted six hours second lasted three weeks on bulb number three!!!I will be looking for a new lighting setup.

The fixture that this bulb affixes too works great. It is a combination light and heat source and, as mentioned earlier, each source has it's own individual switch. I have had mine for over two years and could not be any happier. Great way to save to space atop your terrarium.
