Awesome hula hoops! The hoops came in a giant box and arrived in perfect shape. The colors are blue (34" largest), yellow/green (32.5" medium), and orange (31" small). My daughter is petite, just under four feet tall, and she can hula hoop with all three of the hoops at the same time.
The only flaw is with the small hoop. My daughter finds that the smallest hoop is impossible to stay up for longer than a few seconds on it's own. The only way it will stay up while hooping is if it's on top of the larger hoop. It's good for spinning on arms/neck, and other tricks, but for hooping on it's own, it's not that great.
I found the quality of these hoops to be very good. I have my original pink/white striped, peppermint scented hula-hoop from the 1980s, and although the color and scent have faded, I've taken good care of it and it's still going strong! These hoops are very much of the same quality as my old hoop with the beads inside making the shoop-shoop sound, and the hoop is thick plastic. The beads do not add much weight; I don't know if they helps with balance, but they do make a pleasant sound.
The key to keeping the hoops in good shape is to prevent kids from playing tug-of-war with them, and to make sure they do not lean on the hoop. Most of these hoops are perfect size for kids to bend their torso over them and they like to just dangle over them; the weight of their body, or the pulling of the hoop in opposite directions will bend the hoop permanently.
I highly recommend these hula hoops for play. Over the past few years I've looked for similar hoops that will stand up to my original wham-o, but nothing compared. In this case, it's best to go with the name brand.Read more ›
