The package tells you exactly what color of Chamberlain Learn buttons this remote will work with--green, red, orange, purple or yellow. I checked my door opener before opening the package and mine happens to be purple. It programs easily and worked the first time. If you have a Chamberlain door with the correct matching Learn button color, this should work just fine. (And it was about 10 bucks cheaper on Amazon than Lowes wanted for it, with free Super Saver shipping available).

I have been using Liftmaster remote controls to operate my garage (two separate doors) and have been so frustrated by the lack of range. I have reprogrammed various units on many occasions, and practically had to be touching the garage door to get them to work.

Enter the Chamberlain 953EV. This unit is super easy to program, and operates both of my garage doors from at least 50 feet away. Super product at a great price here!

I needed a 953ESTD remote but could not find anywhere to get one. When I tried Amazon it kept coming up 953EV instead of 953ESTD. I was on the fence for a while because if this did not work I would either have to go through the return process or eat the 30 or so bucks (with tax). The reason I was skeptical is because Chamberlain lied about the 888LM control panel as being compatible with all garage door openers (GDO) since 1998. That is just a flat out lie because I purchased one and it does not work for me and others say it did not work for them either. Furthermore, Chamberlain showed their distain for customers because they did not even man up and admit they lied. They just hemmed and hawed and did not give a rat's posterior about whether it worked or not.

Anyway, I went ahead and purchased this remote and attempted to activate it by following the instruction sheet that came with the remote. I could not get it to work. Next, I tried to activate it by following the instructions printed on the GDO. That did not work either. I was puzzled because I have never had a problem activating remotes and currently have one outdoors, two in my vehicles and a wall-mounted control panel that all were activated with no problem. Also, I have been here at this house for thirty years and have had several different GDOs and never an activation problem.

I set the remote down and went about my business until I could decide what I wanted to do with the remote. A couple of hours after I had tried to activate the remote I went back out to the garage to retrieve the remote. When I picked it up I pressed the button just for the heck of it and the garage door opened. I tried to close and open the door and several more times and it continued to work. This item is on the pricey side but if you need a remote and can't find an exact replacement then this one is worth a try and it might work for you. Chamberlain's quality control leaves much to be desired.

This Is an excellent garage door opener remote control, works with many Chamberlain, Liftmaster and Sears garage door openers made since 1993. Follow the directions and programming is easy, regardless if you have a red, yellow or green programming light on your garage door opener. Has good range, and the buttons are more reliable than older designs.

The seller charged separate shipping for this and a set of garage door opener safety sensors that I ordered at the same time. A total of over $9 for shipping that came in one box via US Mail...

I had the misfortune of getting one of my garage doors replaced and I was stuck with two different frequencies from the same company. I had to get a Universal remote instead of carrying two different remotes in the car. There are two different (953ev and KLiK1u) Chamberlain Universal garage openers (typical frequency used are 315 and 390Mhz), and this remote has the frequency hopper to prevent code copying. The clam-shell packaging sucks, and that is the biggest knock I have for this product. Took a few minutes to setup the remotes and they work like a charm but please follow instructions to avoid headaches. Amazon had a good price and I got three of them, so its well worth the investment, in case you need a Universal remote. Definitely recommended.
