This DMX controller is a great start for getting into DMX lighting control. It's very simple. It works like the wired remote that it is. It lets me directly control lighting for my youtube theremin stage. I have a pair of ADJ P36 Par cans on either side of me for fills, and an ADJ Mega Par Profile for my new key or main light. Now it's possible to set up whatever color I need to suit the music I'm playing, or I can set them to sound active mode.

Until my real DMX cables come in, I'm just testing the rig with a set of old XLR cables. They work, but I won't trust plain old XLRs on a more complex set up than what I'm running To help make things more bullet proof, I also put a DMX terminater on each light just in case. Probably not needed on such a short, and simple run.

About the only things I don't like, are that the buttons are the same color as the DMX desk, and are not lit for the color select buttons. Also, the power cord is extremely thin. This concerns me a bit when it comes to taking the gear out on gigs. We'll see. Also, I did not like that there is no power switch. But that problem is easy to fix with a power strip which you can switch on and off, so no worries there really.

About the only other thing that concerns me is that the units have their own built in microphone which over-rides the mic in the par cans. That means I have to place the controller near the sound source.

Even after I upgrade to the more advanced controllers, I'll likely still use these as dedicated talent lighting controls which will be operated by a live operator while the automated controllers sequence the rest of the stage lighting.

So far, they're holding up nicely.

I have both the Obey 4 and the ADJ RGB3C and I'm ordering another ADJ today. Easy to use, simple programs and even though the Obey 4 is as simple to use but offers 3 and 4 channel to control, the ADJ is fool proof. Probably the Obey 3 would be also, but either way you go, you can't miss with these simple dmx controllers. Just be aware that your LED lights have to be 3 channel compatible. Most of the current ADJ, Chauvet and Blizzard LED Lighting is. Great value. Pick up a pair to keep with your lights, you may find yourself having to split the chain from one side of the room to another and two controllers work better than one. About the only big difference between the two besides cosmetics is the Chauvet has an on/off switch whereas the ADJ does not. Great value.

I bought a competitors product and was a little upset that the colors fade to completely black in between changes when doing chases leaving the stage black for about a second. This one doesn't do that hardly ever! There are several color programs that can be selected using a slider that allows the colors to change from one to the next without fading out. Lots of other nice features as well. It will fade to black though after every color change occasionally, which is why I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars. If you run two lights on different channels when one fades after the red color the other will be on a different color and won't fade so this works well, as there will still be light on stage.

I almost sent this back. I have a set of 4 plays and it would only control one light. I looked everywhere for the answer could find none. Then I thought if it controls one why not the rest, what if I set the dip switches to match the one that does work. So I did, I put the switches down except for the last one is up (on the lights) and it worked. So instead of having to learn about MDX controls the box does it for me. I am a real novice at this and it surely helped. Needless to say I am keeping it.

hooked it up last night to 2 Laluce 18 par lamps, and 2 TSSS spots, both DMX512 controlled, and the blue channel would simply not work. Exchanged cables, tried individually, nothing could make the blue channel work. Although the lights work fine when unplugged from unit.
Will be sending it back as soon as I can get to the post office. Very disappointed. No quality control it seems. Surprised they do not test unit before shipping.

This board works great and is simple and inexpensive. This is for operating one fixture. I use it on the Chauvet 4Bar Tri. I can dim and as well as use sound mode or a single color. You can also blend the colors with the 3 sliders. Nice for the price!

I'm using this with 4 ADJ LED par cans. The sound sensitive mode on this controller is WAY better than the built in stuff on the par cans. On top of that, the par cans (which can be controlled via remote) are much easier to control now when I'm doing a show. Very happy I bought it!
