I've tried a bunch of different stools and benches on stage over the years, and this is by far the most ergonomic one out there. The height easily adjusts in seconds with one hand, the saddle is extremely comfortable, and this thing will never break or collapse. It is a little heavier than most, but this is a small price to pay for the reliability, and because the seat folds down flat, it is still easier to transport than other stools that do not have this feature. This also allows me to lean back while half standing, which means I can be more comfortable without being shorter than the rest of the band when playing keyboards. The footrest needs to be fastened pretty tight, but unlike most other stools on the market, the Performance Stool's footrest is completely height adjustable--another big plus. I have used this to play guitar, upright bass and keyboards, and I haven't found anything better anywhere. I can spend a lot more time on stage now, without worrying about fatigue (not as young as I used to be). I love all of my K&M music gear, and I can say from experience that they do a great job of supporting their products. One more little feature that doesn't get a lot of press is the adjustable foot on the front of the stool. It doesn't seem like much, but this little piece of rubber means that I can sit without wobbling on any uneven surface with the twist of my wrist. That's ingenious. Definitely worth the extra money. There is also an optional backrest available for this stool. Never used it, but I hear that it's nice.

I like almost everything about this stool ... I'm a little on the tall side and most music store staple offerings just are not high enough ... now I can get a stool with a height that suits me which can be adjusted with ease for various applications or when someone else with different physical features wants to use it ... it travels well and is built solid enough to take the rigors of gigging ... the seat is very comfortable: thick padding / size and shape that contours well ... as I said, it appears to be one of the best choices out there for musicians who need comfort, portability, adjustability and durability ...

*I have only one negative: The foot rest, while adjustable, it is not a quick change like the seat height. You'll want to find a good setting and leave it there. If the adjustment for the footrest were enhanced to be as easy as the seat, this would be as perfect a stool as could be found, in my opinion.

Note: The price is high so if you just need something to sit on without being concerned with the features this stool offers, then save your money. However, if you have been constantly unsatisfied with cheaper offerings out there, like I have, either due to the lack of adjustability or questionable durability, then cut your losses and end your search here ... as I said, very close to perfect for an active musician ...

Very solid construction, quality materials, comfy seat, easily adjustable. Gas powered seat height. Only quibble would be you really need a tool to adjust the footrest, but it comes with a tool for that - just have to find a way to store it.

What a nice seat for a long performance--solid as a rock. It's easy to adjust the seat height, but not so much for the footrest height. That's the reason for 4 stars instead of 5. For most of us if the seat height changes then the footrest height needs to change proportionately. This is a well-built product that just costs a lot. I don't think I could ever wear it out. It doesn't fold down very much for transport, and it is heavy, but it's the best performance stool I've seen.

The stool is sturdy, portable and most important comfortable. It is a bit heavy,but not unbearable... well worth the trade-off for comfort and stability. Very well made. My only complaint is the 'adjustable foot.' Maybe it's a good idea in theory, but it falls off. I've had to go back to the stage a number of times to retrieve it. A sheet metal screw through the rubber foot to the base of the stool on all four feet has taken care of that. Overall very happy with the purchase

What can I say! There is a reason why I use K&M products exclusively for my concerts. What can I say, I can spend a several hours sitting on this stool practicing guitar with no problem at all. If you can afford it, then I recommend tracking down the K&M 14042 drummers throne back rest that works with it as well.

Really well built. It doesn't fold very small, but small enough to be easy to transport. Infinite adjustment should fit about any situation. Be careful when you lean back on it. Sometimes it feels so secure, you think that it has a back, but it doesn't...and I have almost fallen backwards, without the assistance of alcohol. Well padded seat is very comfortable.
