I love steel cut oats for breakfast. However, they take a very long time to cook (45 minutes or so), and I haven't had that much time to fix it. I was skeptical about "quick and easy" steel cut oats, but they are as advertised. The taste and chewy consistency are much the same as with regular steel cut oats, but it only takes 5-6 minutes to cook them.

I can cook one serving in 6 minutes. On the weekends I cook oatmeal for my family of three using one cup of oats to three cups of water. I cook the oats in the microwave, uncovered, for 10 minutes.

So much more tasty than regular oatmeal! And, McCanns is the best. But....i paid $16 for a 24 oz can on Amazon in November '13 and now i find that it is $6.39 for the exact same thing at Krogers! GRRRRRR!

The 5 minute oatmeal is just as good as the McCann's long cooking oatmeal but much quicker to prepare. Great flavor! Not to be confused with the "instant McCann's oatmeal" which isn't as good. Only downside, wish we could purchase it in the really big round container that we used to be able to buy at Costco stores. For some reason they no longer carry it.

I love this oatmeal. HOWEVER...when I followed the microwave directions it boiled over and made a mess...use a VERY deep dish! Actually, it is so simple to do on the stove I will do it that way. Just takes minutes and if you can boil water, you can make it. :-)

Delicious oatmeal! Best I've had outside a great breakfast restaurant. I add just a little brown sugar and blueberries. Awesome! You may have to play with microwave time/power a bit to get it cooked right. In my 1100 watt microwave, I found that 3 mins at 40% and 3 mins at 30% was perfect. Then let it sit for a minute. Well cooked and no overflow! I also found this product at my Publix for $6.00, so check around before you order!
