This product works like this. You want to record using your Zoom Recorder as a "shotgun" mic by mounting it on your camera. This cord allows you to monitor audio while recording in real time. Philip Bloom said himself that recording audio without monitoring is like recording video and not looking at the screen. this product does the job. used on a canon 60d

The most painful part of DSLR filming is the anxiety in wondering just what sound you've recorded while on set or on location. With this little cable, you can banish that worry -- provided you have an external sound recorder.

Combined with a Zoom H4n for example, you can now record high quality sound directly through your camera. Place the Zoom or other audio recorder on the hot shoe with a hot shoe adapter (uses the 4/20 screw mount on the back of your Zoom to connect it to the hot shoe.) plug this into the zoom and then the camera and then jack in some headphones. Pre-roll your sound to get the levels right and then go about recording as you normally would!

I've found that I'm more certain and confident in the sound I get which makes for better overall videos as well.

If you want even better sound security, use a second recorder with an XLR microphone and then just sync your audio in post!

Great little product!

Got this to record reference audio to my 7D. Since the 7D still has auto gain control (AGC) it still makes this unusable for real audio needs. But, if you're a one man crew like I am this can be great if you're doing interviews with DSLR's or other situations where you want both a backup audio source and a good source to sync with. Makes like easier, that's for sure.

However, -25dB isn't really enough. That may just be the 7D's fault, but overall I still have to change levels in FCP to even out the sound or else the recording in the 7D is way too loud. Now, I could just lower the out from the H4n but that affects my headphones. But overall, it works.

Everything Sescom makes is of oustanding quality! Bought this for my Canon 6D and H4N. Flawless. Your only option if you want to monitor your audio during recording. If you own the 5DMKIII you won't need this as it has a built in Headphone jack. This little monster is excellent for the Canon t2i, t3i, t4i, t5i, 60D, 60Da, 70D, 7D and 6D. Also work excellent with Nikon DSLRs!

Well it works as advertised. For the Lumix GH 2 model. For latest cameras you might want to buy another one with two 3.5 mm plugs. I lose track of little stinky adapters and am overwhelmed with cables of all sorts. Be sure to label for which camera it fits. Use of 2.5 mm plugs may be inevitable though as devices get tiny and tinier......I can't speak to the effectiveness of the L PAD....seems to help and no overload on my DR 4O TASCAM...decent but fussy device by the way...takes great eyesight that TASCAM....

Great to use it with the zoom H4n!! plug one end to the headphone jack out of the H4n, plug your headphones on the jack and the other end to your camera and boom! you have instant amazing audio in sync with your video. Just be REALLY REALLY carefull on setting the levels on the camera, because the audio that you are hearing on the headphone jack is the one coming from the H4n and its not the one that the camera is picking! so always be carefull to check the levels of your camera! on my 7D the last firmware update allows to control the audio levels manually but just when you are not recording, so take your time and always record on the H4n anyways just in case your camera picks the audio clipping.

If you are tired of syncing your zoom audio to the video recorded from a DSLR, then you need this cable. I have tested it with the ZOOM H6, so no worries there. I don't use the sound monitoring from the cord, because the ZOOM H6 already as a headphone jack where you can monitor the sound. Attach the zoom to a hot-shoe adapter on your DSLR and then plug N' play the line from the zoom to the mic input on your camera. The professional sound will not be outputted from the zoom to your camera, providing a much more rich sound on your videos. No Need to sync the audio in post.

This attenuation cable not cheap, does wounders for you audio. I use it to connect a Tascam Dr-05 to a sony cam or DSLR cameras to shoot video. The audio transmitted from the tascam to the cameras via the cable is excellent. If you are planning to use 3.5mm audio splitters you may end up with low & bad sound or none at all. Another excellent feature is that you can connect your cheap or expensive headphones to monitor the audio.
