As a quilter, I am always dropping pins on the floor, and this pick-up tool has been a blessing! I'm no longer a youngster, so trying to pick up pins and needles was difficult, but with this handy new tool, that's no longer a problem. It's especially convenient because the length of the tool means no more bending and stooping. Highly recommend it!

Once you have this tool you realize how easy it makes every task. It makes working on my car much simpler and gives me peace of mind when I'm loosening something and it has the chance to fall. If it does all i can easily get it with this too. Long reach and the magnet is strong. I'd definitely recommend this to anyone does car repairs.

In maintenance even the surest hands will drop a bolt or small tool now and again, this works great, even better than most ive used..

For one, the shield around the magnet is worth more than you would think. Not having the magnet latch on to every single thing on the way down is just plain awesome and all pick up tools should have this option. Second, the magnet really is pretty strong for its size, ive picked up decent sized 1/2" drive ratchet's with it, and if you cant straight pick it up its at least strong enough to move it closer. Would recommend.

GThis tool comes with a sheath around the magnet that keeps the sides of the magnet from attracting things. The sheath also creates a small lip around the bottom of the magnet. The tool must be held perpendicular to and pressed against the object to be picked up. This renders the tool almost useless for finding and picking up needles and other small items from carpeting.

I work in the aviation industry and I bought this magnet hoping it would be sturdy enough to reach in those hard to get places and it did. It is also not bulky to add to the ease of use in tight spots. The magnet portion is strong enough to pick up those metal shavings, dropped washers, cotter keys, nuts, bolts, etc.

I bought an extra one for home.

After about a year of heavy to moderate use the magnet fell out of the end. It looked like it was installed with just a drop of glue to hold it in. I will be trying a different one and hopefully it will last longer.

I work in corrections, and tools like this are invaluable.... When they don't break after 2 days of using them. The main reason I bought this was to get small metal items from under and inside windowsills, The inmates like to hide things inside there and it's never a good idea just to stick you hand in there looking for them, I was able to recover razor blades, safety knives, hypodermic needles and even a shank,

However, on my third day working, I went to extend the tool and it just kept going, came completely apart and it could not be put back together. So now I just have a metal pointy stick.

Due to the poor quality of craftsmanship, I would not recommend this to anyone. Mine came apart that easily and it never even lifted any kind of heavy load (a few oz at max), actually it never LIFTED any load at all. Everything I grabbed was a horizontal movement. I would imagine that if you actually tried to pick up something that weighed the 2.5 lbs that this claims it can hold you would just end up with a pointy stick too!

Now, if you are in the market for a collapsible pointy stick then this is perfect! And if you act now you get a free refrigerator magnet with..... a pointy end!!! Hurry while supplies last!

Bought this as a gift and had a moment to try it out. Works fine, makes solid contact on scissors, nuts, bolts and such. I didn't have a chance to test out its capacity, but it's pretty substantial given how easily it attracts a heavy scissors and a pliers. The "powercap" dirt cap function is a nice addition. I'm always having to put a temporary "bag" around my other one of these (different manufacturer) when i fish around under a workbench or such, since that one always comes up full of filings in addition to the nut I've dropped.
