This item is excellent and hard to find. My local target does not have it all the time. I enjoy the security an "ultra" gives me. Especially in the workplace. Until I read the box, I didn't realize how little the regular tampon held. As a working woman, I can't have any accidents at work. I wear the ultras and I feel secure that they can last me from getting up in the morning and showring to mid day at work. I ordered three boxes at one time so I would have a supply for several months. Now I wear the ultra on day 1,2 and then move down to the super on day 3,4. This might be TMI but for a younger woman reading this, I am confident this will be helpful. Also, I keep a few in my desk drawer at work in a zipped up cosmetic bag.

As I entered my 40s, super plus just didn't cut it anymore. I'd be leaking in 45 minutes on heavy days. One day I was ordering online and saw there were Ultras available. Woo-hoo! So I gave them a try. But that was the competitor's brand, and while the size was appropriate, the shape was just wrong. Still leaking. Then I decided to try these Playtex 360 ultras. Bingo! Just the thing! The umbrella shape makes a world of difference. I don't normally get excited about tampons, but am so pleased with these that I'm posting a review on here, in front of God and everybody.

Another benefit is the grippable gripper on the applicator. If reaching is a challenge, this is the grip you want.

After giving birth to my second child, my periods changed. Instead of 5 days of moderate flow, I now have two days of VERY heavy flow followed by 2 days of super light flow. I didn't even realize these were on the market until I accidentally found them while searching for other tampons. I haven't seen them in any drugstores.

THEY ARE AWESOME. Instead of changing my super size tampons every 1-2 hours, I can wear one of these for 4-5 hours with zero leaks. ZERO. They are super absorbent and expand well. No more needing to wear annoying liners, no need to carry spare panties, no need to wear only black pants (just in case), no need to have to hose down my clothes with stain remover for 2 days out of the month. I've worn them at night, I've worn them on hikes, I've worn them to work. No leaks. NONE. Super just didn't cut it for me, and I'm thrilled these exist. Hope they are never discontinued.

I have menorrhagia and need Ultra tampons but I couldn't find a review anywhere comparing the specifics of the two Ultra tampons (w/applicators, I don't mess with O.B.) so I decided I would write one.
I've been using Tampax Pearl Ultra and bought a box of these for comparison- so here's what I think:
The applicator with these comes apart really easily- the plunger just falls out unless you keep your finger on the bottom of it, which is sort of hard for me to do because the applicator is long and I have small hands. --Now that I've been using these for a while, it's gotten easier but the plunger still sucks-- Conversely, the Tampax applicator plunger cannot fall out from the rest of the applicator.
The Gentle Glide grip area is similar to the grip on the Tampax Radiant and is better than the grip area on the Tampax Pearl.
I do like Playtex's slimmer applicator compared to thick one used by Tampax.
The Playtex wrapper is apparently not made to be used to dispose of the application like Tampax wrappers are and is made of thinner material that (from past experience) tends to tear open when they are put in purses/backpacks.
I really like that the Playtex tampon expands in all directions (hence the 360 name I guess).Tampax Pearl only expands on two sides.
I haven't had any leaks with these after using them for nearly a full month. I have had leaks with Pearl Ultra, but I've using them for quite a while so that really isn't a fair comparison. With the Pearl I almost always wore a pad because of the leaks, I've been able to stop doing that.
I think the lack of leaks is because the 360 design handles clots (a significant problem for me) much better.Read more ›

I give these five stars. Why? Cuz I don't have to buy 'em at the store for my wife anymore. True story. First time my wife sent me to the store for these and these alone, I bought a shopping basket full of crap I didn't need thinking the cashier wouldn't notice the tampons. I won't say much about this - not exactly the kind of thing I like to review, but I will say this: I LOVE Playtex brand and can't stand the other brands. I have tried all the big name brands that are fancy and come in smart packaging and I must say, this brand of tampon is the most comfortable and reliable and the only brand I use. So, there! I have only been able to find this style of tampon with Playtex. With the way they are made, when you have to pull one out before it is full, it is less painful than the ones that are crimped together. The crimped ones have those almost sharp edges and these are two layers that seem to be designed for comfortable wear and removal. These have the classic (and preferable) applicator and wrapper that was done away with in the Playtex Sport.
