This product is a godsend for my himalayan who tears excessively. No one likes having their eyes rubbed, but it's a necessity for my himalayan. Since I need to clean his eyes on a daily basis to keep them clean, I alternate between using this product, which easily removes the stains and a washcloth wet with a little warm water on odd days. Without this product, the tears buildup into a mucus which collects in his tear ducts and he begins suffering from conjunctivitis. Both the powder and solution in this kit are a must. After I finish wiping his eyes with the solution and pads, I dab a little bit of the powder with my finger under his eyes and stroke upward in the opposite direction of his fur growth (exactly as the directions that come with the kit suggest). The powder seems to be lasting forever- I've already gone through 3 bottles of the solution (which you can order separately), while still on my first little powder jar. The pads will run out quickly, but they can be easily replaced with any old make-up remover pad brand you find at your local drugstore, which work equally well.

One thing to note, be gentle with your kitty's eyes. You don't need to rub excessively with this solution. Those dry stubborn clumps that can get caught in your kitty's fur, will lift with a gentle wipe once they become saturated with a little solution.

A kitty with clean eyes is a happy kitty!

I thought this 'no refrigeration' Eye Envy would be okay to use on my cat, a persian whose eyes get sticky stuff pretty regularly. Unfortunately this stuff had no effect on her poor little eyes- the lower lids stayed red, the discharge became red and thick and sticky, and had a 'yeasty' smell. I have since gone back to using the Eye Envy that has to be kept in the 'fridge, purchased directly from Eye Envy. After 3 uses of the Original Eye Envy her eyes are perfectly beautiful, and I can keep them that way. My advice: Stick to the stuff that really works. My cat had to suffer until I realized what was going on and went back to using Original Eye Envy. Your cat or dog doesn't have to, because you have my word that the product I'm reviewing-'Eye Envy no refrigeration required', does not work. At all. Don't waste your money. Get the original formula.

UPDATE 12/7/2012: After returning to the original, 'refrigerate' formula for cats, Mimi's beautiful eyes have had ZERO red gunk, no painful squinting, no itching. If you've never used Eye Envy before, go to eyeenvy.com to order. If you use the kind I've reviewed here, you'll never know what a great product Eye Envy really is.

I have a white Persian cat. As many of you well know, there is a constant upkeep in keeping their eyes clean. If you don't your little guy/girl will get those black/red stains that are more than difficult to get out. I tried every product on the market and then found Eye Envy. I use it everyday and my cat's eyes are healthy without stains. The before and after photos they show on their website are absolutely true. My cat no longer squints and has much less tearing.

You must use the product regularly and as the directions state. Just doing it once it a while will produce no results.

I live by this product!

The liquid and powder are easy to use. These products really help my cats eyes look cleaner and better. She is a silver shaded Exotic, so she has a lot of white on her face, and it is hard to keep clean. The products help a lot, but it is best if you use them daily.

My flame-point Himmy (an almost white cat) had real tear stain issues. It was soaking into her fur and I was having a terrible time getting the stains out for a show. This product, used in combination with the Angel Eyes (I put the Angel Eyes in capsules due to the terrible taste) has her looking much, much better. Thank you and bravo!

Great product. No antibiotics and her eyes are so clean. I clean 2 times a day but you don't have to. I will not use anything but. I have been using the pads that it came with. They can be pricey but we cut one pad in half and use one half for each eye. I tried the round pads that you use for nails eyes etc. they absorbed so much liquid there was hardly anything on top the same also with cotton balls Someone on here mentioned gauze pads in place of the eye pads and that could work but I have not tried it yet.

Again great product to use for tear staining. I know a few people mentioned it did not work as well as the refrigerated one (I believe is antibiotics) but I never used it so I cannot compare it.

I find the liquid cleaner does not do much to get rid of the initial tear stains/build up. I use water with a bit of salt, luke warm so it penetrates the stains. I also use just regular cotton pads from the drug store but be careful and get compact ones and not ones that have loose fibers; these get in the eyes and cause tremendous pain (just think when you have something in your eye).

As for the powder, I do like it but I am not sure what happened, it SMELLS. Along the lines of sulfur...it was so bad, that I thought my cat was passing gas every time while I was cleaning his eyes. Does this stuff expire??! He goes nuts when ever I try to apply this because it's so close to his nose, he must get the smell x 1000! I was told I could use cornstarch as it is the same concept...helps reflect the tears so they don't soak into the fur. I am willing to try anything in order to avoid this smell. However, it does not do as good as a job.

You have to keep doing this, every day or every other day in order to help future stains. It will not REMOVE stains but help prevent stains.
