I'm not one that writes reviews unless I'm very impressed with a product or I want to warn others of a problem with a product. In this case, I'm very impressed. Yes I know this is just a simple battery caddy and nothing glamorous.

I ordered this to hold and organized my rechargeable batteries for my Speedlights and to indicate charged and discharged batteries. This product is perfect and I'm going to order some more to hold AAA and CR123 batteries.

These are the key features:

- Made of strong, non-brittle plastic--it's rigid yet flexible
- Batteries are snapped into place firmly and will not fall out yet they can easily be removed
- Batteries can be inserted either way to indicate charged or discharged
- Batteries are protected from grounding or making contact when placed on a flat surface regardless which way you insert them

I have a few of these in various colors and battery sizes. The black 4-AA version I have really holds onto the batteries. This yellow 12-AA version isn't so tight, and the batteries glide more smoothly. I like this one better than the 4-AA black.

The version that holds various sizes (AA,AAA,9V,C) I don't like as much as this yellow 12-AA or the black 4-AA because it holds onto the batteries too tightly.

I also like this yellow 12-AA because it's one unit instead of 3 loose 4-AA versions. A good buy and I'm glad I bought it.

As a serious photo enthusiast, I was glad to find this Storacell by Powerpax "AA" 12 Pack Battery Caddy being offered here. Had seen a fellow photographer using the same battery caddy in yellow, and was impressed with the way that batteries could be removed quietly on location without zipper noise, as can happen with some battery wallets. This one is orange and holds 12 AA batteries, which is ideal for storage in my larger camera bag for backup in the field.

This caddy dispenses AA batteries one at a time so that you're not fumbling when trying to load flash units or other devices, and it doesn't take but seconds to figure out that this can be all be done in a one-handed fashion. I've loaded it with my eneloop AA Ni-MH batteries, AmazonBasics AA Ni-MH and standard AA alkaline batteries, and they all fit perfectly. Because of the unique Storacell design, I can insert fresh cells positive side down and exhausted cells positive up so that they don't get mixed up.

The Powerpax construction is quite robust, simple and highly functional. The design is quite ingenious in that cells can be extracted singly and with one hand. The material appears to be some form of sturdy polymer, and flip the battery over and you'll see they're a US-made product.

What started this search for a better solution for battery storage was an incident during the winter, with snow on the ground. It was cold and windy, and I was trying to get fresh AA batteries from a device quite similar in design to this AA battery storage box.

I am using these for 3 different brands of AA batteries. It can hold Amazon Basics AA and Sanyo Eneloop AA but the Rayovac Platinum AA have a hard time fitting when you insert them with the positive terminal first. For some reason the positive cap are too shallow on the Rayovac which leaves the batteries not fully secured by the latch at the opening of the container. They fall out easily. Another concern is the tightness of the latch. It has a tendency to damage the outer sleeve of batteries. I have noticed that some of my batteries having the outer sleeve dented or coming loose after repeatedly storing them in this battery caddy. I am going back to the flimsy 4 pack clamshell type containers.

As a photographer, I have a lot of batteries and need a way to organize them (have them 'ready to go' at any moment, know which ones are charged and which are used).

I'll start off by saying I really like the idea of this - the design is nice (more color options would be nice -- the Glow in the Dark version they sell is a nice idea, but harder to find/more expensive). The problem is, to me they're not the fastest solution and are one of the more costly ones.

The idea is simple - insert the batteries (as shown on the photo), then when ready to use, push up from the bottom until the head pokes out, then pull it out from there. You can also put the batteries in upside-down to indicate they're "dead".

For me, I have many sets of batteries (both rechargable and alkaline) so I need a way to store them all when not in use (and tell which ones are used, in the case of rechargables). And that's where these are a bit of a problem due to the cost. at 5-bucks a piece for a 4-battery-case, they're just about as expensive as the rechargable batteries themselves. If you have a drawer full of alkalines and need to organize them (which is how this was advertised to me at the time), it would cost a fortune with this option.

I eventually ended up with these: Bluecell 3 PCS Clear/Green/Blue Color AA / AAA 4 Cell Battery Storage Case + Bluecell Cable Tie - the prices do vary (I bought them at a price of roughly 2-for-a-dollar, shipped).
