I love this two-tier dryer and the one tier version Household Essentials Collapsible Indoor Tripod Clothes Dryer. I use them both in the winter to dry my clothes and to humidify the air. I enjoy having both because I can put one in my bedroom and the other in my office to make the air less dry.

If you can only have one of these dryers, I would choose this two-tier model because it's more versatile. You don't have to use the lower tier if you have a lot of long things to dry. Plus you can adjust the height of the upper tier as needed.

I do think, after reading some negative reviews, that some people have inappropriate expectations for these dryers. Yes, they are plastic. That makes them lightweight and easy to collapse and store. It also means that you have to use some common sense in loading them up. The first thing to do is position the tripod where you want it to be after it is loaded because it is not intended to be relocated when it is loaded up.

The second thing to do when you load it is to balance the load among the three arms. Pay a little attention to the relative weight of the items you are hanging so you can distribute the weight somewhat evenly amongst the arms. This is not hard to do. In fact, if you have particularly heavy items, put them closer to the pole instead of on the far ends of the arms. For example, I have some heavyweight fleece pants and I always hang them closest to the pole, and then put some shirts farther out on the arms.

The third thing is not to overload the dryer. I think it's a mistake for Household Essentials to make excessive claims for capacity.Read more ›

I searched the internet extensively looking for the perfect clothes drying rack and this was the nicest one out there I could find with a decent price. I absolutely love this rack! Along with the rack I bought hangers for both shirts and pants so they were designated to the rack alone. There is enough space between each groove that the clothing is able to get air all the way around it. Clothes take a day to a day and a half to dry depending on the type of material, also if you give them a quick shake before hanging them up they dry with very little to no wrinkles at all. I also plan on using this rack to display our T-shirts for our charity event. The rack folds up and breaks down for easy travel and takes up little room for storage. With such a versatile rack that I'm sure I will be finding everyday uses for it especially with winter coming up. This is a very sturdy rack but you do have to be careful while hanging heavier items on it, make sure to evenly displace the weight of the clothes. Its not that it will tip over very easily, I only found this to be a problem if I had to move the rack with clothes on it. The rack was a bit top heavy and one sided so it tipped a little while i slid it across the room. Other than careful placement of clothing I can find no faults with this drying rack, I am very happy I chose this particular rack, with all the uses it has I will probably end up buying another one just to have for extra room.

Bought this based on the recommendations of other reviewers. I've only had this about a week but I love it. Earlier this year, I tried for ages to find the very capacious Leifheit air dryer i used when I lived in Europe recently, but it would have had to be shipped from the UK, so I gave that a pass. Had I only known about this 2-tier tripod air dryer, I wouldn't have bothered looking for the other one. This has a very small footprint, but it's so well designed and sturdy that it holds a lot. Although you need to remember to put things on in sensible way so that the weight is distributed more or less evenly. For the small amount of $$ difference between the two, I would say it's definitely worth it to get the two-tier model. The bottom arms are roughly 40 inches from the ground. One could easily put one of those small gadgets with multiple clasps (for bras and such) on the end slot.

Before this air dryer any of our clothes which weren't put in the electric dryer would be festooned around randomly -- hung off over-the-door hooks, on door knobs etc. Not very attractive decor. It would be great for apartments or condos which lack outdoor area. I'm lucky that I have a deck and a garden (and I live in California), so I will usually be able to set mine up outside. Again, it's so compact that outside it doesn't intrude on your view, but still sits firmly on grass. At night I bring it in and it only needs about a 5 foot diameter area. Regarding set up -- takes roughly 20 seconds. It is so incredibly light weight that a five year old could easily carry it (and any five year old I know would love to spend ages hanging things on it, so hey, it doubles as a kids' toy).
