I have been using these my Filstar XP3 canister filter for years. I wash and re-use most of the media, except for these pads, which I completely replace. They usually last about 2 months. After completing maintenance on my filter and replacing with these pads, the water seems to be remarkably clearer. They seem to be scrubbing the water well.

I have used both these "super" micro filtration pads and the plain white pads, and these seem to be better, but don't last as long. I guess they clog faster.

This is not a replacement part. The stock API canister filers do not have a super micro-filtration pad. I have three XP filters on my tanks now and put these in only one tank. They really cleaned up the small particulate matter, but I can see they will be a monthly replacement.

These work to polish your aquarium water..but..you will find that you must clean your filter twice as often because these pads collect so much dirt, they will slow down your out flow in 14 days to a trickle...
I was happy with cleaning my api filstar xp m monthly...now with super micro pads it's every two weeks...but the water is crystal clear.

The extra filtration these pads give vs the regular micro filtration filter is awesome. Due to the higher cost of these I use one regular and one super filtration pad.

Wife likes it for her 95g fresh water tank, however, I feel that with the 30 micron and 20 micron pads installed in the XP3, that this super micro-pad significantly cuts back on water volume!!

It does indeed trap more but it lasted me a quarter of what my normal filter pad lasts. It also refused by flow rate. I will use regular pads in the future and simply clean them more often
