First let me say, if you think this leash is going to stop your dog from pulling, that is not what it's intended to do. What it will do is help ease the tension on your arms and shoulders from a relentless puller. I have a 38 pound pit bull, and while that doesn't sound very big, she is STRONG. She pulls like a freight train. I have tried many different harnesses and leashes to address the issue. I have tried behavior modification techniques to no avail. I pretty much have accepted the fact that I have a puller. So, how does this leash stack up?

What I like:
It does, in fact, take tension off your shoulders. I also noticed that while it by no means stopped her from pulling, she seemed to tire out faster than she does when I'm using a conventional leash. Perhaps because it provides additional tension so she is essentially pulling against a resistance band instead of just a piece of rope. I bought the extra length of rope that goes with the lead (24") and looped it through both her martingale collar and harness, clipped it onto itself and then attached the Mutley lead (making a 12" extension). For me this is the perfect length for a city.

What I don't like:
I feel like I don't have as much control. While it does take tension off my shoulders when my dog pulls, it doesn't allow me to easily hold her back at an intersection or when other joggers/dogs are coming. With my conventional rope lead, I have a good grip and am able to keep her right next to me. The bungee makes this a lot harder. I am now thinking of using a regular leash with the bungee attachment. This might be the best of both worlds.

It says the handle is padded, but I found it to be no more comfortable than a regular leash handle. I was expecting something a little more substantial.

That said, I will probably use this leash for jogging, but not hiking or walks where we will be around lots of people.

This is the best leash I have ever owned and I get many compliments on it from the vets office and the puppy day care staff (they all love it)- my puppy is still very young and pulls on leash all the time. This leash reduces the impact (she is a Doberman/Lab mix puppy - lots of power and energy)and I can take her on 60+ min walks without hurting her neck or my shoulder. Will definitely buy another leash when this one wears out.

As a veterinary hospital, we often have to put a leash on dogs and walk them outside when they are boarding or walk them to a room. Often, dogs pull and hurt our employees who then go out on workers comp. These leashes have REALLY helped; we bought one 24" and one 40" to give our staff options. We ended up ordering another one because they are so useful!

I recommend this product to anyone who has a dog who pulls; if your dog is not a good walker though, I would suggest looking into the Gentle Leader instead.

I prefer a short leash for my labradoodle, as I like to keep him by my side when we walk, instead of all over the place. This leash is the perfect length, light, strong and comfortable. I wasn't sure what to expect with "shock absorption," but it's nice. Just a little stretch if he tugs on the leash, but still firm enough for me to be able to give him a little tug if he's getting distracted. And the neoprene handle is perfect to slip over my wrist, my preferred way to hold it when we walk.

This is a great leash for dogs less than 50 lbs that pull or yank owners. It prevents the owner from being unexpectedly yanked and the dog has a warning as well. You can feel the tug when the dog starts to pull which allows you to brace yourself as well as give a command to your dog. For larger dogs I would go with the EzyDog Cujo. I wouldn't suggest this for small dogs since I don't think the bungee style would have any effect for either owner or dog. The quality is made very well.

It does what it says. It is stretchy and absorbs shocks. The problem we found was that it was too stretchy. My dog (a 55 lb Rough Collie) doesn't usually pull forward, his problem is he stops dead and leans backwards refusing to walk. However, this lead encouraged him to start pulling forward. We usually use either a longer normal type leash or a short shock absorbing style leash (I have a shoulder injury). I was hoping this would combine the two, but am returning it and sticking with what we have.

BQI and BTBones get walked exclusively with this leash and the standard extension. It is great to have the handle around my hand and be able to walk them together. it doesn't twist and is comfortable in my hand. It absorbs any shock of pulling from my high energy small dogs. Love the leash .... period. BTBones gets excited every time I pull it out ... not sure it was going for a walk or he likes the lease.
