I have an african grey parrot.

We were running low on bird food, and honestly a trip to petco or walmart is just not that fun.
I have to sort through so many different types, brands, bird types..ect.

This is my first time purchasing food for her on Amazon.
I wish i would have done this a long time ago.

I received this a couple of days later, and i was thrilled.

This Kaytee Exact Natural Food for Parrots and Conures is something my parrot never fails will eat.

I have tried purchasing the colored brands but she just picks out the reds and leaves other colors.
I find the ones she doesnt like thrown on the bottom of her cage, the stinker!

This gives me peace of mind knowing i am feeding my parrot something healthy for her, and that she enjoys.
This gives her exactly the nutrients she needs.

I do mix in some other various cashews, and other nuts just to surprise her.

I would recommend this to anyone who has a parrot.

My 25-year-old African Grey Parrot loves it and it's good for him. Can't ask for more than that. Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I've had problems with grain moths. I can't be 100% sure they were from the feed but even if they were there's not much the mfgr can do to prevent them. It's up to you to NOT OPEN THE FEED without first freezing it for 5 - 7 days first. I actually 'cycle it' and freeze for 5, thaw for 2, freeze for 5, then use. Once you get grain moths they're really hard to eradicate so it's worth being diligent. Once opened, you can keep it in the freezer and only take out enough for a couple of weeks; just use a sealable can or plastic container to hold enough to keep by the cage to keep their food bowl full.

If you're a new bird owner and are trying to decide between this feed and the colored variety, I recommend this one (the brown stuff). As far as I know, there's no difference as far as the bird is concerned but the colored feed just stinks. You might assume that they would prefer food that smells like fruit but birds actually have a lousy sense of smell. However, if you don't, do yourself a favor and get the plain brown feed.

My African Gray loves this. In fact, this is all she eats. I prefer her to have this over trying other options since I've heard that the food dies that color the other foods can be bad for the birds. This has no artificial colors so I can avoid that concern and as a plus, when she takes it to her water bowl and throws it around, it won't stain the floor with the food coloring.

I've very happy that Amazon carries this since it's no longer available in the local pet stores.

Some of my birds pick out certain colors of the colored variety of this food, so I buy the natural variety only. You also won't get stained perches that you do when the birds eat the colored variety. Great nutrition. Remember to keep in a dark container so the sunlight doesn't degrade the vitamins.

I have used Kaytee exact (original) for all my parrots, 4 macaws, 3 parrots + conures for more than 20 years. I do not have to give any suppliments. However I do provide fruits, vegtables and toast as treats. All but one bird happily eats the small crunchy pellets. One bird usually tosses the extra pellets out of his bowl.
The Kaytee Rainbow Chunky looks pretty, and the birds like that at well, except they throw the different pieces out of their cages. Also each bird likes certain colors and not others so soon I will see all purple bits in one bird's bowl, all tan bits in another birds bowl.
This never happens with the Kaytee exact. When I first used it I thought my birds would get tired of the small little pellets. But they have never done so in all the years of feeding them. They have been in excellent health too.

The Exact food keeps my Conure very happy. It works well as soft and hard food. It softens relatively easy and quick which worked great as a transition from formula to hard food. This also avoids the possibility of birds favoring a certain color that's in the Rainbow bag.
