These crimpers work great. There is a quality black coating on the metal that has held up well so far. The grip on them is a comfortable rubber that helps keep an easy grip on the tool, but it isn't so sticky that it holds dirt.
The ratchet mechanism helps to hold the pins of a small connector while getting all of the small components and the wire aligned before crimping. The ratchet has a release lever near the pivot point in case things aren't going right and you need to re position the pin or other components. The ratchet/crimp mechanism force can be adjusted for different sizes of terminals or pins. This helps keep from over crimping small terminals but also allows a strong crimp on heavier terminals.
The gauge markings are a little offset so it can be confusing to read the correct one, but once you do a couple you get used to it. The jaws are removable and replaceable. There's no need for multiple crimp tools, just get the jaws you need.

I've used it a few times. However, I should have watched a you-tube video before even starting. This type of tool was new to me and there were no specific instructions. It seems to be working fine. The grip is comfortable and the crimping result satisfactory. The AWG markings are on the "poor" side; difficult to see. You need to get used to where to insert what wire / terminal. Also, in my opinion, it is a little on the pricey side. All this said, you'll definitely need a similar tool to achieve a secure crimp with certain types of terminals. Go with the best rated one with a reasonable price.

It would be REALLY nice if the advert. stated what style/type terminals this tool fit. I had to read other adverts for terminals to find this one as it was a recommendation from another shopper. Works very well once you figure out how to use it. I guess the sellers figure you already know how or you wouldn't be buying it.

This thing works very well. Only problem I have is that the jaws are a bit wide... the barrel on the lugs I have are short .. and so the crimper gets onto the wire insulation. But so far, it has not actually damage any wires as far as I can tell. And it does a much better job of crimping (easier on your hands too) that those crappy things you get at the big box stores.

I made one practice crimp, and it destroyed the connector. I turned the crimper pressure release adjustment down one position and tried again. All succeeding crimps looked like they came off a factory assembly line. I have no experience at this, but can now make crimps that are permanent and professional-looking. This tool crimps the wire to the connector and the insulation for strain relief in a one step process. One squeeze and you are done. Once you get the release pressure correct, select connector and stripped wire. Insert connector with the tangs pointing towards the concave heart shaped direction of the crimper (i.e.: away from the male crimper tab.) Also, the direction the connector is inserted is important. The connector portion goes in the smaller die side. The insulation strain relief portion goes in the (slightly) larger die side. Squeeze crimper handles slightly to hold the connector. Insert the stripped wire. Squeeze the handles until the release mechanism engages. Marvel at the professional results you just achieved! Amazing results from a reasonably priced tool.

The entire Eclipse line of terminal crimper tools are absolutely the best value out there. There are tools for twice the price of this one that do not offer any additional benefit. There are a full line of dies available as well. You can not go wrong with this product and highly recommend you add this to your arsenal of high quality tools. They have served me well.

Have had no problems with this crimper so far. If anything, my frustration would be the vast and confusing world of crimp connectors. There's like a thousand different types, and I use about 20 of them on a regular basis, and quite of few of them look almost identical but crimp best in different dies.

If you're careful, that is! I surprised myself with the results. At $34.00 it's a bit on the expensive side. One thing it can't do is crimp the strain-relief ears that surround the wire insulation. As the jaws are removable, there is probably a pair that would do this. This can also crimp many other uninsulated terminals.
