those knives are sharp and well made --the colous are vibrant and very pleasing to the eye.
I would recommend it to everyone who likes quality products that adds color to your kitchen.

Update

Colour starts to peel off the knifes so badly that is had to go --since I found few flakes of colour paint in the food --therefore I would not consider those knifes as a safe product --since the colour is pealing off and ends up in your food.

Farberware generally has good quality products and these are no exception.
These are not $50 knives, granted, but they are still pretty good for the price.
The handhelds feel geed, the blades come sharp and the cases are handy for those not storing in a block.

Its worth noting these are steel knives, when i first went to buy these i always bought them thinking they were ceramic, which i have had good experience with, but they are in fact stainless steel. Well, "high carbon stainless" as advertised.

Final thoughts:
I think these knifes are great for new home, apt, dorm people that are just starting out. Those that aren't ready to invest in a real set of knifes. They will work well and last a while but they are not lifetime knives (they are not intended to be either, so no points taken off).

I was wrong - they're really great quality and I expect them to last a very long time. Fun colors brighten up the kitchen, too.

I'm a college student living out a dorm with access to a basic kitchen (read: a free-standing burner and an electric griddle) and these knives made cooking with limited space a breeze. The chef knife, parer and bread/utility knife are the jacks of all trades as far as cooking goes and for the ~$12 price it's a steal!

Kudos to Farberware for delivering a set of high-quality, VERY sharp knives to the cooking public.

I love this knife set because it was a great price and they work great! I bought these in addition to the Hampton Forge Wood Drawer Cutlery Organizer, and they fit in there even with the sheath on. I bought these in August, and the blades are still sharp. I do hand wash the knives, hoping it will prolong their life.

I was browsing the kitchen and home deptartment for purple things and found this 8 inch purple chef's knife and was immediately intrigued. I purchased the three-color combo set and am very satisfied with it. The blades are very sharp and the colors are fun and definitely brighten up my kitchen. Each knife has a plastic sleeve which is nice for safe storage. The only thing that I didn't like is that there is no kind of gripping on the handles so make sure your hands are nice and dry when you use them. The paring knife is my favorite, It really gets the job done quickly and I feel a lot of control when i use it.

I gave these to my son to complement his old Samurai Chef's set he bought at the Yokuska Exchange during Vietnam. He likes the feel of the molded knives' grips, the heft and especially likes the concavities along the blades to release the sliced material from surface tension suction of the blade slicing the material.

He said the resin was all right, but he would have preferred a black or grey resin. The bright turquoise and muted orange and chartreuse of the paring knife are not to his taste.

I wanted to love these knives, I really did. I like the colors, they're very sharp, affordable, clean easily, etc. etc.

However, there is a fatal design flaw in the purple chef's knife. The blade is set back into the handle about another 1/4 inch or so more than the Amazon product pictures display, leaving a sharp edge a little further back than you would expect on the finger guard. That may not sound like much, but it's enough to badly cut you if you are not extremely vigilant when handling the knife.

As an extension of this problem, the sheath (which is clearly designed to fit the knife pictured) does not cover this extra nub of razor sharp steel, so it's dangerous even when supposedly "protected" in the drawer.

I learned both of these lessons the hard way and the big knife is now in my garbage can, which is a real shame. The only reason I didn't return for a refund is that they were cheap, and I still like the smaller knives.

BUYER BEWARE!!!
