Milwaukee is the King of the power tools for most products and DEFINITELY for this one.
This thing has more guts at 11 amps than most of its competitors. I am a contractor
and this is an indispensable tool for me. I use it with an accessory sanding disc and
disc backer. Now here you need to pay attention. Most other grinder manufacturers
manufacture a short shaft grinder and the sanding backer pads won't fit on it. The
the sanding backer pads with sanding disc make this tool a true multi purpose tool.

For example it makes child's play out of sanding flaking paint at 10,000 rpms this thing
sales through loose flaky paint. You can also use it to refinish your deck sanding down
to new wood through that old grey weathered wood. You can do this in less than a day.

For fitting doors and you need to take a little off, this beats a plane and you can
take off a little or a lot.

Another area that it shines is the ability to sand and shape ceramic tile. For example
if you are trying to tile a bathroom, most tubs have a curved edge. The how to books
suggest tile nippers but these only make very crude cuts and don't begin to do a fine
finish curve cut. With the sanding disc attached to the grinder you can do a nice
curved cut to exactly fit the tile around that curved edge of the tub. There is
not another tool out there that will do this. DIYers PAY ATTENTION TO THIS, YOU WON'T
FIND IT IN ANY HOW TO BOOKS.

Bottom line among contractors in the know, they will all tell you that Milwaukee is
top of the line and as a DIYER you should buy the best tools to help make up for your
relative lack of skills.

is a good product I have used several and own 4 products now.
I am happy with the grinder,yet there is a vibration in the bearing I fear will
be a problem in the future also the paddle switch is hard to use and sticks, another problem down the road.
The quality seems to be slipping, I will consider other brands next time, I hope these are not coming from China,yet
it appears to be the case.

i have and older milwaukee 6147. i pretty much hate the new switch . that thing snags when you don't want it too and turbos to full speed and hard to get it switched back to off. i like the easy on off no perma lock . dam thing sticks!

I have two other Milwaukee angle grinders .... a vintage 1990's model with a very simple paddle which was easy, one-hand accessible but probably a bit dangerous with no other safety switch. I purchased a 2002 full size unit later and it is a great grinder but more bulky for cutting and detail grinding. Paddle has a safety and two-steps to the trigger. One hand can do it but trickier. The new model has more seperation of the two-parts to the paddle/trigger and definitely necessitates two hands or repositioning. Otherwise works fine. One step forward, two steps back.... like everything else in America.

Awesome grinder with as much power as my 7" HBT grinder. It's very smooth compared to my HBT 4 1/2" 6amp grinder, which hurts my wrists after long usage. I had one before and returned it because I thought I didn't need it but I bought it again after I started welding, it's my favorite grinder/cutter now! I would reccomend this to anyone looking for a powerful grinder that you can operate with one hand.

Powerful, useful tool. The lock on the paddlebis kind of finnickey but once you figure it out it's fine. I'm taking a star off this product because I was expecting the tool to have a plug with a ground, and it's only a two prong plug. Meaning I cannot use it where I work
