If the pan you want to save is going to pair and work with a handle this cheap then just buy a new pan. This handle will only fit some pans that accept the same size screw and once in place you're going to have a short, flimsy solution. The metal band is very cheap and thin.
This is the type of handle you'll find on a $10 pan.

It comes down to it not being nice enough to be used on pots/pans that are worth saving. We have a nice older double bottom 1.5 quart pan that the handle broke on. I ended up using the pot in my garage because it's not really sturdy enough for kitchen use and looks like a cheap pot handle with mold lines being noticeable and of questionable strength.

Update Feb 2015
Well, the handle has held up well after all. In fact, I moved the pot back into the house and have had zero problems with it. It still doesn't look that great but time and dishwasher action have made it less glossy cheap looking. I have to say I'd buy it again if I couldn't find anything I know would be better

This handle fit perfectly on a relatively inexpensive pot, restoring it to good-as-new condition. I see complaints about this not being suitable for very high-end cookware, but for our more pedestrian pots and pans: perfect. Note: you might need the screw from the old handle, depending on the length required.

I bought some new pots and when they arrived, two handles were broken. I called the company I got them from and they simply sent me another set of pots and pans. I am not one to waste anything, especially when it is new or can be used so I looked to see just what I could do with my pots and this was and is the perfect solution. I fixed both pots and now use them all. I feel guilty about getting two sets of pots for the price of one but I offered to send them back. I did not get the pots from the same seller as the handles.

This product doesn't work as advertised. They don't provide a variety of screw lengths that would fit a variety of pans/pots. Even when I found my own to use in fastening... the handle kept wiggling loose. Spend more and get the real product's replacement handle ... It'll be worth the absence of aggravation.

Had a Salad Master pot handle break. Couldn't find a replacement. I replaced the original screw with a shorter one and insulated the screw head to protect the new handle from heat transfer. The thin aluminum spacer appears to insulate the handle from heat very well. I believe this handle will last a long time if care is taken to install it properly

This did not fit the pot I needed to use it on. Probably a better description would have helped. The metal end piece needs to be listed by shape and measurement. Other than that it would be a good product to select.
