I just purchased these "true rectangle" flip-up clip-on sunglasses on August 10th 2011 right here on Amazon. Bought them because I just had to get prescription glasses for the first time in my life and I am very sensitive to sunlight, and the cost for "transition" lenses was outrageous. I need something for driving with, so I'll base my review on that and provide some photos. My review is also based on using these with a very "normal / standard" sized pair of nice Burberry brand rectangular prescription eyeglasses.
PROS:
- Great price. Only About $11.25 plus shipping at the time I purchased.
- Dark enough to do the job, definitely darker and more protective than "tansitions" prescription.
- Light-weight and adds hardly any weight / feel to my glasses.
- Very easy to clip-on without harming my prescription lenses.
- The clip part only makes contact with the lense right near the nose pieces.
- The clip spring mechanism seems very sturdy so far.
- Easy flip-up and flip-down.
CONS:
- Like other reviews mentioned, it's true - they are smaller than the average lense / frame.
- The small factor makes them look a little strange / awkward to wear if you're concerned with appearance.
- The quality of the plastic is good, BUT very thin and would be easy to break if not careful.
- The clip-on mechanism is a tiny bit bulky, which again makes them look a little awkard if concerned about appearance.
- The ease of flipping up and down is nice but you'll no doubt smudge prints on your lenses while doing so.
SUMMARY:
- Excellent deal for the price and it's great to have a quick simple solution without having to pay big bucks for custom sized shades, BUT you're going to make some sacrifices.Read more ›
