Like other reviewers have said, the buttons on this scale can be hard to use; even when the scale registers a button press it takes maybe 2 seconds for it to react, which is confusing and annoying. But what's worse is that it clearly doesn't function properly -- when I zero the scale with something on it, then remove the item and replace it, the scale almost always reads a value other than 0 (usually in about a 10g range). In addition, it doesn't register small weight changes (maybe around the 3g range), which is very annoying. I have no trust in the readings on this scale, and I will be returning it.

I bought this scale based on the Salter reputation and it's good looks. But it flat-out doesn't work. The touchscreen buttons work intermittently: sometimes when you wave a finger over the button by mistake it triggers something, sometimes they don't work at all, and sometimes the whole thing just goes berserk like it's posessed. I had this scale for about 15 minutes before it was clear that it was defective and that I needed to return it. I'm not sure if the problem is specific to my unit or if it's a design flaw but all I know is that I'm going back to using my postal scale until I get this one exchanged.

I bought this for weighing out produce for trade. It works exactly as I expected. I have not had an issue with the touch buttons like others have had, in fact my buttons seem to work too well. When using a clear plastic tray (for loads that exceed the dimensions of the scale) Placing items over the buttons have triggered a unit measurement change. Other than that small issue I love this scale, great looks and a great working product.

Salter scales seem to have serious design flaws that vary based on the model. This bamboo scale is gorgeous to look at, and I had high hopes for it. Unfortunately, the pressure-sensitive touchpad that turns on the scale works only about 1 out of every 20 times I press it--if that. I returned it and got an Oxo instead.

I bought this product at Target, but I wish I had read the reviews on Amazon first. This scale is not good at measuring exact amounts, which is a shame because that's pretty much what it's supposed to do. I found when measuring in grams that it is apparently not programed to measure single units, but instead it measures in intervals. For instance, it will not measure anything between 0-3 grams, 6-9 grams, and 11-14 grams. This is horribly frustrating when trying to measure something out to say 7 grams, because with this scale, it's actually not possible. Measure to 6 and slowly add more weight until it jumps to 9, remove a slight amount... no change, remove a little more, back to 6. Horrible. If you are looking for a scale that measures approximate measurements you should buy this, or there's probably a nice Fisher Price one for children's pretend playtime somewhere that costs about half as much and is just as accurate.

In our house, a food scale gets used multiple times per day. Over the years, we have owned several great scales, but they all stayed hidden away because they were not aesthetically pleasing. Salter's Bamboo scale attracted me with its sleek good looks. The slim profile & eco-friendly bamboo deck caught my eye. Now THIS was a scale that would look great on our granite counter tops! At unboxing, the stylish turqoise backlit display mesmerized me. Sadly, that is where our love affair came to a screeching halt! Summary: The scale does NOT function. At best, it is glitchy. Additionally, the design is flawed. When you press any button, it wobbles. That is, if the buttons respond at all. Frequently, they do not. Worst of all, weight readings are horribly inaccurate. After testing the reliability against a scale we already own, I repeatedly found errors. So, unless you purchased this scale to do nothing but sit there and look pretty, it is a loser. (You may also notice reviews that their bathroom scale gets a bad rep for the same issues). Lastly, the scale claims it can measure liquid. It does have a setting for milliliters, however, (ml) is a unit of volume, not weight, so to add insult to injury, it did not live up to its claims.

I am not too sure why it's so inaccurate... example say the target is 10 grams of whatever flour. It would stop at around 9.3 grams... and I keep on adding and out of no where it jumps to 10.5 grams. I then remove some flour... and the digits won't change then out of no where it jumps to 9.3 grams...
