I tried several brands of natural tampons, including Seventh Generation and Natracare. This is my favorite. It's natural, and not full of fragrance or other additives (phtalates in your tampons, anyone? artificial hormones/endocrine disruptors? no, thank you). It's also all wrapped in paper so that much more environmentally friendly, and it's the most comfortable to wear, in my opinion.

The applicator is a bit tricky, as it can get stuck. But I much prefer it over no applicator, and over the super environmentally unfriendly plastic applicators. Also, although it's trickier than the applicator from Always Radiant it's actually about the same in ease of use the applicator from Pearls. The trick is simply to push it a little before inserting. Then it works pretty well.

The shining star is the tampon itself. I found it much more comfortable than all the other natural brands. I read somewhere it's because it expands lengthwise more than widthwise. For whatever reason, it seems to work great for me. I haven't had any trouble with it leaking. I just use it for the recommended period then change.

If you are looking for natural pads also, I found Organyc to be my favorite.

I was excited to finally find an organic tampon in a super plus variety. I purchased these for the initial "heavier" days. With a typical 5 day cycle my experiences has been that these last on average no more than 2 to 3 hours.and appear to have the same absorbency as the "regular" organic tampons of another brand. Unfortunately these seem to be super plus in name only.
