I have been sewing for 42 years and have used many types of thread out there. Until now, I have never had much success with metallic threads, and believe me, I have tried them all! I was very hesitant about ordering this set of threads. However, I had not tried metallic threads from ThreadsRus and thought I would give them a try. WOW! I am certainly glad I did! First off, the shipping was lightning fast! I had this set on the third day after I placed the order. I carefully examined each spool. I did not find any thing that could possibly warrant any kind of complaint. The threads are nicely wound and individually wrapped in cellophane which is easily removed. The labeling on each spool is on the bottom and you do not have to punch a hole in the label to mount them on the embroidery machine (I have three Brother machines and the spools fit them all). The thread is super colorful and shinny! Just beautiful mounted on my thread rack on the wall. But even more beautiful once sewn into a design! The color and shimmer just pops! I have completed 6 embroidery designs so far and not once did the thread break or have any issues - Not Once! I was pleasantly shocked! I simply could not believe the success I was having even at high speed on my machines. I guess after so many years and so many types of metallic thread I was just naturally expecting the worse. On my machines, I set the thread tension to 4. On these cones, I used the small thread cap and I placed thread netting on the spools and then threaded the machines - and walla! I couldn't be happier! I will most certainly be ordering more of these from ThreadsRus and I highly recommend this thread to anyone looking for success with metallic threads.Read more ›

I agree with the reviewer who said she uses it for everything. I waited until I had a chance to use a good bit of many of the colors, & I'm not disappointed. It's gorgeous!

Reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is too many spools of almost identical gold color.

Don't expect this thread to never break; it's the nature of the beast. Also, the machine manuals say needle threaders don't work with metallic threads---try it & you'll find it often does work.

I'm guessing the amazing price has to do with non-locking spools, but if you wind excess toward the bottom, it doesn't really unravel.

Last thing: when I was considering this item, the price suddenly jumped one day to something like $149---may've been an error, as I got it for a much lower price. Point being, I love this thread for the very low price I paid; I would not have considered it for the above mentioned price, or the prices you see in retail stores. For those prices, I'd expect the thread not only to not break, but to bring me a cup of coffee while it was doing my sewing.

I used this on a Professional Embroidery machine for Free-Standing Lace. I had problems at first because of the metallic nature of the thread it came off the spool so easily that it wrapped up with other threads on the machine and jammed everything up. Then I put a thread net over each thread and it controlled the problem thus increasing the quality of the project and eliminated the problem.

I did some monograms using this thread and they turned out very pretty. I had heard how hard the metallic thread could be to work with and being new to embroidery, I thought I would try it out on something for myself. I didn't really have any problems with the first three colors I used, but when it came to the black I had a lot of problems. I set it up the same as with the other colors, but for some reason it wanted to kink and knot much more than the others. Unlike the other colors, it wasn't even any shinier than my normal sulky black thread so I finished my project using it with no further problems.
