A favorite pair of oxfords suffered sole de-lamination. I was very surprised because these shoes were from one of The Leading Shoe Makers anywhere, and it was quite a surprise to find out that they shoe was actually a moccasin that was glued to the sole. Show's you what I know about modern shoe manufacturing! Anyway, the need was to glue the sole back to the shoe and after reading all of the reviews, I figured Barge was the stuff to use. I cleaned the sole and applied the Barge as the instructions indicated and clamped the shoe and sole together in my shop. To put it bluntly, it didn't work and I found the glue to be messier to use than I had expected. I ended up taking the shoe to a shoe repair shop and they sewed shoe and sole back together. This is probably a really good product, just not for the size project I needed it for. I have a smaller project I will try this on soon, and perhaps I'll have better results.

No, it isn't intended for attaching one barge to another! You'd need quite a pail of it for that. The name of the manufacturer is Barge. It's a tough glue that holds on most surfaces, especially wood, leather, cardboard, rubber, and some plastics. It remains slightly flexible and for that reason it's being marketed for shoe repair jobs, but it's my 'first line of attack' for many jobs. Its adhesive qualities are probably better than its strength against shear. I use it on the pads and cork of my historical instruments, since the fish-skin glue of yesteryear isn't available. I also use it, believe it or not, to patch holes in my hiking socks.

There are now choices to be made, between "yellow" and "blue" Barge cement. I haven't tried the 'Blue" yet. One good thing about Barge cement is that a tube can be opened, partly used, closed and forgotten in a tool box, and still be usable years later, unlike most other glues. But I ask, "why do THEY need to make simple dependable products complicated?"

ORDERED THIS ON ADVICE OF MY PODIATRIST TO CREATE A STRONGER ORTHODIC. IT WAS A BIT DIFFICULT TO USE AND DIRECTIONS COULD HAVE BEEN CLEARER BUT FOLLOWED DOCTORS INSTRUCTIONS AND THE FIX WAS DONE.

smells volatile. makes really really long threads of goo if you are not very careful with the tube and application. Sticks stuff together well with a somewhat flexible adhesive.
