I use these in my home theater room, so I have at least one of each size because I use them with Solid Thermal Insulated Blackout Curtain 84"L- 1 Set-BLACK over doorways to block light from other rooms in addition to using them over windows. I think they're great, but I thought I'd offer some tips for making them better based on my experiences with them.

There are five main pieces: Two mounting brackets made of a round plate with a short pipe attached, two L-shaped pieces with a short leg that fits over the tube on the mounting bracket and a long leg that fits inside the fifth piece, a center section that is just a straight tube. The two larger sizes also come with a bracket you can use if you need support in the middle. Here are the lengths of the three spanning pieces:

30" - 52": Center section 26"; end pieces 15"
52" - 96": Center section 48"; end pieces 26"
96" - 144": Center section 54"; end pieces 48"

Note that in each case the minimum span is twice the length of the end pieces. If the end pieces of the 96" - 144" size are shortened sufficiently the minimum span would be 58".

The end pieces don't fit snuggly into the center tube. There are plastic inserts in the ends of the center section so the fit is snug where the ends enter the tube, but the part of an end piece inside the center section can flop around about an 1/8". Thus the farther an end is inserted into the center section, the less play there is in the assembled rod. Conversely, the less the ends are inserted (as when you're using the rod for close to its maximum length), the more play you'll have.Read more ›

I actually love my rods. I got the pewter ones. They were solid and are as stated above. They come with a middle bracket for the really long ones (I ordered 144 inches) but I was missing that part. You can use the rods without it but the rod bends in the middle as it really needs that little extra support. Because I have no way to contact the seller, I could not get a replacement for just that one piece and a replacement for the whole thing was just too much work (especially since the original boxes were thrown out and I am disabled and had to get help to install the rods. We didn't notice the missing parts until after the rods were up. sigh)

The rods were not hard to put up, however, we did have to drill a hole into one of the rods because the screw stripped. In addition, the return of the rod is really nice because the curtains do meet the wall thus blocking that light. These rods are really a great idea if you are trying to reduce sound, heat/cold and especially light.

Side note #1 - the screws that come with the rod are not very good and stripped easily. So you may find yourself drilling a hole into the actual rod so you can screw the end caps on tightly.

Side Note #2 -. The way you put the curtains up is to unscrew the cap off the ends. It seems stupid simple but we were actually momentarily stumped! (reading instructions might have been a good idea! smile) Also make sure when you put the rods up that the screw on the end caps is at the bottom so when you take the curtains down in the future to wash or change or move, you can unscrew the endcap easily.

I would have given this a 4 except for the missing part and my unability to contact the seller and get the missing parts sent out to me.Read more ›

I am mixed about these - they look great and are made well. The only thing that is bad is that in order to wash the curtains, you have to physically remove the curtain rod from the wall to get the curtains off. I wish I had realized this before purchasing, so I am letting others know here. They should design them so that they still have the wraparound functionality, but also allow for curtain removal without destroying your walls.

I wanted a sturdy curtain rod that would project from the wall far enough to straddle my outside-mounted window blinds. Not only did these fit the bill, but the curved sides allow me to wrap my new blackout curtains around the edges so they sit flush to the wall, blocking out maximum light. I'm really pleased with the quality and weight of this rod, as well as how easily I was able to hang it.

This was easy to install and works great at keeping the curtain flush with the wall. Measure your window and buy the shortest one you need for the most support. This is very strong, however. There are four parts, the two bars (one inside the other) and two ends. The ends have a screw that you loosen to pull the end off. If you have ever installed a bathroom towel bar or toilet paper holder, then you know what I mean. This allows you to place the ends on the wall first, then add the bars.

When I saw this Blockaide rod at Amazon, I purchased it right away. Its made well 'n' its not like other curtain rods that claim there're sturdy. Have it in my living-room with four pair of curtains bunched together. The rod is just as advertised. I have a 96" length rod and used the center piece for weight of curtains. I have grommet curtains. The grommets are easy to slide across the 3-piece rod. I'd like to purchase another center piece for the rod separately. Received my rod quickly and the price was affordable for the value. I'm certain everyone that orders this set will never reqret it. Thank you AMAZON. :)
