Some might find the 6500K (Daylight) color temperature a little harsh, but for me, that's just the point: it's heavy on the blue and near-UV light that helps wake you up in the morning. So if you're looking for a bright, "wake me up" light, a pack of these is nice. If you're looking for a more mellow, warm light for evening, go for the 2700K version.

When first installed, I was not very impressed. However, after the cfls warmed up, I noticed the difference. Can't get over paying so much for a light bulb, but couldn't deal with the dull 60 watters and the cave like lighting they give out. This is at least somewhat of a solution and hopefully, they will last a long, long time.

Needed a replacement bulb for my lamp. Was concerned that the brightness wouldn't be the same (you can never be too sure with these annoying bulbs), but it ended up being the same if not better. This type of bulb is "instant on."

I purchased two of these in May/2012 to use as porch lights. They barely fit within the porch light fixture. The bulb is about 3 inches wide and 5.5 inches tall - so they're big. They give good light when the ambient temperature is above about 40 degrees F. Below about 40 degrees, they progressively become dimmer - just like any other fluorescent bulb.

In November/2014 one of the lights burned out. The other is still working. To have a light fail in under two years is disappointing. That equates to more than $5 per year just for the one bulb. The bulb is only used after dark and is not left on all night, so I doubt it used the average "3 hours per day," yet it failed in about 1.5 years instead of the claimed "8000 hours (or about 7 years)."

If these lights lasted at least 5 years and use the rated wattage, it might justify the price. However, because of the lower than average fail rate, they are not cost effective and so I will give a lower than average rating.

I bought this to keep a plant indoors (winter) that likes sunlight (gardinia). Figured any sunlight florscent would work. This appareently has no red or blue radiation in the spectrum, so leaves go fro m green to yellow in a matter of days.
