I have this item on subscribe and save and they used to be just fine. The last two batches have fallen apart after just a couple of days and I have canceled my subscription. Scotch-Brite needs to look at their quality control!

These Scotch Brite sponges are bleeding yellow dye all over my white kitchen. When I called SB up, they told me this was normal, and I could clean it up with Pine Sol. So I buy a sponge to clean up a mess, and then you want me to clean up the mess the sponge makes? I threw out the Scotch Brites and bought something else. I am unsurprised to come here and find other with the same problem.

I've happily used this brand for years. I used to put them in the top of the dishwasher or into the microwave to clean and sanitize. They were always sturdy and long lasting. Now, however, they last about one week before the yellow side falls apart. This is also true of the "natural" product though that one seems to peel. I would think I got a bad batch, but it has happened with every single sponge I used over the past few months. And no, I haven't changed cleaning products. Now I'm giving O Cello a try.

I purchased these originally thinking that they were the type with the scrubber side. That was my error, these do not have a scrubber. Despite that, I am ultimately pleased with the purchase because I will be able to use these sponges for a wide variety of cleaning jobs. They seem very durable. I have used them so far for washing dishes, polishing stainless steel pots and pans, as well as, cleaning walls and floors.

This particular purchase includes six 4 packs of sponges which should last for quite some time. Based on the description, they are also compostable, which is in keeping with my desire to increase my purchases of environmentally friendly products. I have not had to dispose of any yet so I can't verify this claim, but I will update my review as soon as I can determine the truth of this claim.

I do not know whether this is the authentic product from 3M. The quality of the sponge is not the same as they used to be. They were wet when in the package, and there's a strange smell came from it. In addition, the texture of the surface is different from previous ones. Something on the contours even fell apart before use. When washing dishes with it, the color of the water became blue. I tried to confirm that the blue color is from the sponge, by dipping it in the clean water for several minutes, and when pressing the sponge the color of the water turned blue.

I have been using the blue Scotch-Brite Non-Scratch sponges for years and years. They are the only ones we buy. Scotch-Brite is a trusted brand in our house. With kids/teens/husband in the house, I don't like leaving anything to chance. I only buy the non-scratch because I know that if I buy two different kinds, someone will scratch the countertop, cookware or stove. So, I play it safe!

Highlights:

~ Non-scratch scrubbing!
~ Food, grease and grime doesn't stick to the surface of the sponge! Much easier to keep the sponge clean!
~ Long-lasting sponge life!

Please see the picture below. It is a comparison photo of both the older blue version and the new version. It's amazingly clean after use. Please note that the blue one is obviously older and has been used though, but I thought this would give you a general idea!

5-stars in our house! However, if I might make a suggestion - not to take away from the product, but I'm not a fan of the purple color. I'd prefer something a bit more neutral in the kitchen.

These sponges hold up much better then any colored similar sponges I have purchased. No litte pills of color coming off when wiping or scrubbing. Hold up well in the dishwasher too, which we run them through every couple days to keep fresh.

Scotch-Brite 455 sponges are the extra large, oversize 6.1 x 3.5 inch sponges, ideal for larger hands. Since they cover more area than the relatively small sponges sold in most stores, it takes less time to wipe the kitchen counters and scrub larger pots and pans, and they tend to last somewhat longer than the small 4.4 x 2.6 inch sponges. They sent a 12 pack of the smaller sponges and stuck a separate label on the package which had 455 printed on it. I was taken aback I tell you...that's right, taken aback...that someone would have the gumption to mislabel a package of sponges like that. I'm a kidder...I wasn't really taken aback, just somewhat discombobulated. Needless to say, I returned the mislabeled sponges and expressed my discombobulation, at which time I was promptly reimbursed.
